Hi, I am going to view a 2014 800GS from a BMW dealer tomorrow which I've been keeping an eye on and has been reduced in price recently to something which appears to be the going rate. It has comfort and dynamic packs included. If I decide to go for it, I am not certain if they will move much on price and so in the spirit of always wanting to feel you get a good deal, I am wondering what kind of thing I should try and get included and they might be open to. eg next service included, voucher for kit, a different screen - what do you think would be worth bargaining for?

thanks!

Tyres, luggage, Scott oiler. The list is endless.

Have a good look round the bike and take notes.

Cheers Dave.

what the above post said plus

Comfort seat (top of the list)
touring screen
Mudsling front and rear

good thanks, tyres are good, comes with a comfort seat, thanks for the other ideas! I guess it's what the dealer might include at little cost to them compared to the value to me.

ok folks, I have a deal with 2 options. The agreed price or the agreed price + £300 for sump guard and engine bars fitted, which are not on the bike at the moment. Do you think that's worth pursuing or can I pick these bits up elsewhere for around the same amount or less? Any thoughts?
thanks

It really depends on whether you are happy with the sump guard and engine bars the shop have.
If you are then go for it, its not a bad deal. They are giving you a discount on the parts and then fitting them free.
So if you are happy with the parts - go for it.

Agreed

Personally I'd save the £300 and buy much better aftermarket stuff from Adventure Spec etc or off eBay (or here!) and fit myself - easy to do. Alternatively, wangle a service voucher to the same value.

I'd save the money and wait for them to appear on here for much less.

When I bought my F8GS I scoured eBay for the touring screen, BMW engine bars and BMW skid plate. Managed to get them at a fraction of the cost, which more than covered the cost of the Touratech upper bars that bolt to the BMW lowers. The vario panniers, to fit the case holders included with the comfort pack, I was really dismayed as every set I saw on eBay went for big pennies, then I managed to find a set on Gumtree with a very reasonable price .... so if it were me, I'd save the pennies and go hunting for the add ons here and eBay etc

This is mine with its bits on

Plus 1 for saving the £300

I bought Off Here for F650 twin

Givi touring screen £35
Adventure spec crash bars (stunning build quality) £110
Touratech covers for brake cyl et £30 each
Hanguards genuine BMW £55
Rear pannier rack, topbox, HID's the list goes on.

Agreed with above see if you can get a spvouche for servicing thats a real cost. Either that or tyres.

Everything else will appear on here over time or gumtree the bay etc
