buying a gs

hi all new to the site im looking at buying a gs1200 about 2007/2008 is there anything i need to look out for thanks

As the quest for a 1200 goes on, around the 6.5 / 7k mark, i understand service history is important buti seem to be getting totaly lost with all the different GS,s that are around.
I am looking for what i would call the most basic model if indeed there is such a beast,
Not going to be going off road often and wont be going round the world, just weekend rallies and the odd two weeks in Europe.
As with the original question were do you start.

Get an 1100 or 1150, will serve you just as well and cost less than half the money, and you'll lose a lot less when you trade it in.

All I would say is hold out for the right one with every thing you want/need. There are plenty out there.

The odd two weeks in Europe - ha ha ha ha!
Once you start that there is no coming back. Two weeks leads to three weeks, and three weeks leads to ooh look Africa is not that far away...

Keep looking around and even speak to a few dealers and find something you really like, there are a few models out there to confuse everyone but you'll soon get an idea of what suits you best.

Condition, condition and also check the condition.

They can easily rack up mega mileage, but an unloved GS is a sad sight.
