Hi all daft ish Q time,i'm in the process of swapping the data from my old desktop to my
external HD,the Q is do i also copy n paste both hard drives from my old desktop
Cheers Baza
Is it worth carrying out a disc clean up to get rid of all the old cache, lingering deleted files and duplicated files first before transferring them over to the new drive?depends. Some like to keep a mirror of the exact hard drive contents. Pointless for most users, especially if your new laptop is running Win 11 and the old one has Win 10 or earlier.
others, the majority, like me, are only interested in actual data files like photos, other media, personal documents etc
Do both drives have useful data or is one only used for the operating system?
Where do you sit on this spectrum?

Going through my pc folders I seem to have duplicates of lots of photos (14000) photos in all,is there a quick way of deleting the some

Well I never,thanks

Thanks for your reply mate, unless i'm reading it wrong, has'nt the Curry's and J Lewis laptops got the same processor, plus JLs got 8 GB RamNever buy from Currys is my mantra.
Anyway, their laptop for the same price has an inferior processor - the i number indicates the number of processing cores. Higher is usually better. Plus if it goes wrong, you are dealing with Argos/Sainsbury's
I'm still not sure you need so much processing power and the original one I recommended that is in stock at JL would suffice

where as Curry's has got 16 GB or am i over thinking it
The i5 processor in the Currys laptop is a generation newer than the i7 in the Argos laptop & as such is ever so slightly better, not inferior.Never buy from Currys is my mantra.

Although there’s not a great deal in it, in this instance I would opt for the i5 over the i7
Hi folks I know it’s been a whilebut I’m thinking of buying this, what d’you reckon

Cheers mate,as you said previously the JL 2 year warranty is ait will be fine. I have had a Vivobook for over 2 years and it is great. Asus provide a decent spec for the price and seem pretty robust.
my sister has just bought one, in a lower spec from John Lewis. She is very happy with it. She was going to go to Curry's but I found the Vivobook for a similar price and it has a 2 year warranty via JL as they add a year to the Asus standard year.
