Hi,

I had a 2005 gs for about a year a few years back. The things I loved about it were that I could do long distances and it was a brilliant commuter. The things I hated about it were both specific to my bike (some idiot butchered the loom rendering it very unreliable) and more common (dreadful fueling). In the end the fueling and the throttle response drove me up the wall and I sold it (although the random problems with the indicators and horn going off in the rain took the shine off too).

Anyway, long story short. I've been through a few bikes since then and now have a fireblade (keeping) and a blackbird that I'm unconvinced about and think about replacing with a newer gs just because I likes the way it rode. Did they resolve the fueling in the end or does a remap completely solve the problem or low speed surging?

Thanks,

Mark

I can’t answer your specific questions but I currently ride a 2016 LC. On the recent Alaska tour, my hire bike was a 2009 twin cam and despite me being vertically challenged I found the engine / fuelling to be utterly superb. The drive train was a bit industrial compared to the LC but I put that down to the dry clutch.

If I wanted another GS I’d be looking for the last of the twin cams.

PS. On a tank range of 240 miles we got to a gas station at 243.5 miles ok :thumb2

The later the GS/GSA the better, they improved the design especially when they went to a double overhead camshaft engine.

Whatever flavour of GS you have, a remap makes them much smoother with an improved throttle response and less likely to suffer from the lean running issues they come out of the factory with (in some cases that can mean engine damage).

Being a tad cheeky here but I am only up the road in Didcot and selling a 2012 twin cam Triple Black edition GS. Get in touch if you want to take a look.

Have you got a link to an ad? I can't see ads on here I'm afraid.

Thanks,
