Buying an 1100GS: Advice needed!

Hello everyone, I've been stalking the site for a while and now I'm nearly ready to make a purchase so I've decided to surface. There's a fairly nice looking 1996 1100GS I'm thinking of buying, but it would be good to know what to look for to make sure it's the bike that takes me for a ride and not the guy selling it.

So, for those of you in the know, if you had to do an inspection before buying what would you check?
