Just wondered if anyone on here has had any dealings with this company.
It’s just that I’m considering purchasing a new helmet from there website but despite it being a .co.uk address the company’s registered in France so was wondering if I’d be liable for import tax.

I thought that motorcycle helmets are classified as a safety item and are exempt from import duties?

exempt from VAT

could be duty if over the threshold - no idea what rate but I am sure the HMRC website will tell you...

In my experience, I've ordered a couple of helmets from Europe and not had to pay VAT or Duty.

Both were over £300

Been on the HMRC website and attempted to find the correct tariff but simply can’t make head nor arse from it.

I've bought from them but was a while ago - no problems as far as I recall.

Post brexit too. September 2021 and January 2022.

I had to pay import duty on my shad topbox when imported from abroad, but that's obviously not the same code. The threshold for import duty AFAIK is £135. Looking at the import duty commodity codes, a "safety helmet" code is 6506101000 which attracts a rate of 2% in import duty but I also thought VAT was 0%? (on safety gear which is CE marked)

I emailed iCasque and they’ve replied stating that there would be no import duty to pay, so new helmet on its way, happy days. :)
