Anything to look out for GOOD or BAD?
I know the Add ons can mount up but are their add ons like their own keyboard, mouse, printer etc etc any good.

The Spec i have decided on but its the adds that look a bit ordinary

i've bought 4 from them over the years.... never had a problem, my current one I built myself as I just wanted better spec bits than they offered at the time... the add ons are fine, but i'd certainly shop around before purchase..... mesh were offering good deals too, so it really depends on what you want as to who is doing the best deal at the time................

Dell

I have used them for a few years and been happy. Recently I bought a new one and the hard disk, a Western Digital 160 SATA, went down. Getting hold of them to fix it was a nightmare, I will never ever buy another Dell. It literally took hours on the phone, passed from one to another then cut off.Maybe you get better service in UK.
I have since heard of others having problems with this particular hard disk.

Just took delivery of my second Dell (Dimension 5000). Absolutely cracking. Had a Dell laptop for seven years and it never missed a beat (well it was thick enough to be bullet proof!) Would recommend the data transfer and set-up package that they provide.

But what really makes it tick is a broadband connection. Using a Blueyonder 1MB and it makes the whole system rock.

If you want a Dell, checkout the Dell outlet supposed to be refurbished computers, but I have bought 4 now and they always come as brand new, they are ideal if you already have a monitor.

My hard disk died late last year (not a problem as I back up to both an external HDD and an online backup service). As it was intermittent failure I tried a various things thinking I had a virus but as it turned out if you run the diagnostics in the boot up menu it will give you a read out - HDD dead, or something to that affect.

I quoted this to the nice chap in India and the next day an engineer turned up and exchanged it for a larger (and unfortunately noisier) drive. My opening line was "I think my hard disk is dead" but this didn't wash - you have to quote the error code.

Anyway, I'm on my fifth Dell (1 from an auction, 1 from eBay and 3 brand new) and apart from the dead HDD they've all performed faultessly.

Spec the PC as you want it and buy any perpherals you need elsewhere - you'll pay over the odds for these from Dell.

I think my nice chap was from Morrocco or Algeria as it was all in French, he didn't speak English. In my previous post I didn't make it clear that the reason I won't buy Dell again is solely because of the service which used to be first class here. I don't hold them responsible for the Western Digital hard disk failing.

Mesh

On my second Mesh. first one brill , now I would'nt even give one to to someone I did'nt like, after sales are are dreadfull had to send the unit back to mesh evan though I had paid extra for on site service and they refused point blank to come and see what the fault was !!!!
never again Mesh
sounds like a rant but beware, Regards Stewart :beerjug:

Can you Downgrade on a Dell. I am thinking of a 8400 but it has a 19inch monitor.
Too bloody big a 17 will do me.

I have looked at Mesh and on the Whole you do get that little bit more for your money but i keep hearing dodgy stories
I have looked at the MESH premier at £849.

Its a choice between the two mmmm!!

Mesh

Big Decision

Just dont buy a Tiny instead !!!!!!!!!!!

Regards Stewart

I'm on a Mesh at the moment and had fairly good service from them, but I'd definately not buy one from them now based purely on price.......

Take a look at THIS LOT and look at their monthly offer as an example of what you can get instead.....way better for less.

:)

Not so sure about that lot , compare this lot.

I have a HP printer so thats why none where selected. I have tried to keep them roun the same price mark to see what you get.

Also bare in mind the Companies record and realibility.

SO WHICH ONE WOULD YOU GO FOR!
I am F****D if i can decide, dont really know in depth about them specially when it comes to Re-Writables and sound and Video cards.

It will mainly used as a Family PC so that is also something to bare in mind.

SO WHAT DO YA THINK WHIZZKIDS?

I know Bob Jeffries have Both but anybody have any thoughts on the above.
