Guys

I have read through the battery threads and concluded that I will go for the Hawker Odyssey PC680 for my 2003 1150GS ABS.

2 questions:

1. Do I need the posts to fit?
2. Where is the best on-line place to buy?

Thanks :aidan

I ask because Motorworks comes up a lot. I can find the battery there but not the posts. If I need the posts, better to buy with the battery and avoid 2x postage. If I don't need the posts then I am home already. If Motorworks sells the posts, I can't find them on their site.

Apologies for being dumb

I made some myself with mild steel, and then greased them down, no problems.

Give these guy's a call, they could well be cheaper even with the postage to just the battery cost at Motorworks.

They do a Hawker Odyssey PC680 for £59.40 plus £10.50 overnight delivery (price as of Feb '06)
Very helpful man there, quick delivery too.

They do the adapters as well, a couple of quid extra IIRC

Hope they're better than the adapters i've seen on some bikes. Thick as a baked bean tin, last a month if your lucky.

I've fitted my leads, and seen lots of others, straight onto the PC680 terminals.

Read through the battery threads. They'll tell you :thumb :jibber

I only posted that reply because i knew there was a cheap outlet ( i couldn't remember the name) thats been posted lots of time, so i thought a search would throw it up - and as said = Cheshire Batteries .

Thanks, Guys. I will call Cheshire Batteries tomorrow. I did not see that name in my search so thanks for the help. I'll get the adapters at the same time and then see if I can fit the leads direct (or not).

I've been calling them most days for the last two weeks for Flipfly, they said they wouldn't give me a price even though they had recieved a delivery........

Now I know why after they originally said they thought it would be around £60................

Oh dear...............

So, It's arrived.

Battery £65 + VAT of £11.38 = £76.38
Terminal posts £5 + VAT of £0.88 = £5.88
Post (overnight TNT) £10.45

Thank make the £92.75 - and prices are still rising as the metals market is still strengtheining.

The posts (Steptoe asked) look quite strong. They are made from a strip of copper 60x13 mm and are 3mm thick, not "bean can" strength. After bending to 90 degrees this gives an inside edge length of 39mm one way and 15mm the other. Complete with screws.

Fitting tomorrow.
