It is with great sadness that I have to hand back my F800GS. The recession has bitten me hard and I can’t afford the bike anymore.

I could only afford such an expensive bike on finance and I can be glad I had two great years on it seeing places and meeting people others only dream of. For that I am grateful and privileged but 6 months out of work has meant that the time has come to part company with my bike.

BMW would not allow me to move the agreement to another EU state or another name.

The timing could have been better. Handing a bike back as you enter winter time would be easier to swallow but handing it back as we approach summer is particularly hard.

With luck and a fair wind I will emerge on the other side, stronger, happier and with a new bike.

It may not be a BMW but it will hopefully inspire the same spirit of adventure.

As the tagline says on the website. The adventure begins in your head.

Very sorry Jon..keep yer chin up.
Hopefully things work out for you soon.
Phil.

Sorry to hear that :(

Let's hope it's not too long before you are in possesion of another bike and things are looking up :thumb

yeah, so sorry to hear John, well at least you can get some cash back by selling of the bits you have that do not belong to BMW, maybe enough money to buy a little second hand offroad tourer to tie you over:augie

good luck mate, :beerjug:

Cheers fellas. As always it could be worse. There's a bloke on Youtube called Svengalie and I follow his videos and recently his 1200GSA fell on him and broke his leg. He'll be out of action for the next 6 months

There are also people who have lost their lives on the bike or cannot ride due to illness. I'm also lucky to have a great girlfriend who has stuck by me when other so called friends have melted away when the good times have ended.

It is a real learning experience and I will ride again. I will have one last big ride as I leave Austria and head back to blighty so if anyone is riding back to the UK after a trip around mid April give me a shout! :beerjug:

Cheers Dean,

I'll still be around talking nonsense for a while. I will be happy to report on others adventures in the meantime and I will be helping Colebatch with the Sibirsky Extreme website for 2010.

Of course I could do one last video of the bike on fire whilst flying mid air from an Austrian mountain into a lake. :augie It would look cool and BMW would have nothing but a charred shell :hide
