Hi I'm new to the forum and have had my 2005 GS for just under a year now. The ABS warning came on and I've checked the brake pads, switches etc until I gave up and went to my local BMW dealer who kindly put it on their diagnostics and have informed me the ABS pump is faulty. THey quoted me over £1600.00 which i cannot afford. I asked about removing the ABS altogether and they said it can be done and to ask for advice on here. I'm hoping that someone out there can help or advise. Thanks in advance

Yes it can be done. There are several threads already on it so have a search. In short disconnect the servo, throw it in the bin and get new brake lines. You can also get the servo repaired. If you give it a thump with a rubber mallet and it works for a while then it probably just needs new brushes. Again there is an extensive thread on that somewhere.

It's a 2005 model so it's not the version that suffers from sticky brushes (they came in for 2007). I've heard a rumour that MotoScot, who sponsors some of these pages, can fix them. As I've got a similar model myself I'd like to know if it's true.

I took mine to Motoscot. Ride in Ride out service. Very impressed.
