I had a (very) rare afternoon off today, with nothing particular to do... :)

... so thought I'd go and have chat with Bahnstormer about test riding new bikes, and on the way see if I could find a green lane to explore.

Put in Bahnstormer's postcode into here: http://whereilive.hants.gov.uk/rightsofway/webform1.aspx and found a BOAT at East Tisted, just off A32. Armed with Google Maps printout, I found West Tisted, but struggled to find Clinkley Road.

Then I spotted a rather ancient-looking sign "right of way"... goes down the side of a large farmyard... nice little ride across edge of field, then comes to a gate. Does anyone know whether the right of way extends beyond the gate? (last 2 photos - ancient sign on tree, but couldn't read it). Gate wasn't locked, but I just turned around and went back anyhow. I might explore further next week on Bahnstormer's demo bikes!

OK, not the most adventurous of green lanes, but a fun little distraction on a sunny day, and somewhere with a nice view to eat my sarnies. :)

(PS: didn't have my camera with me, so phone photos only... sorry for poor quality :o )

So do we have a record

Captain posts an article about a byway and 2 posts later we are off topic and attacking Prem again - is it something about the Captain or something about Prem we should be worried about?

:hide:hide:hide

If the farmyard was Manor Farm then that was Clinkley Rd according to my map. It only goes a short way finishing at Bramdean Common, looks like less than a mile long.
There's another very slightly longer byway to the north running almost parallel. I'd say that one is about 1/4 mile north off the same road at a sharp right hander.

Alternatively if you've a coupla hours on your hands you could go north to Alton/Basingstoke area. There's lots around there and Dolly Rocket is quite familiar wi them. He's taken a couple of us round them a few times now.
Enjoy
