Ok, so i know there have been many threads on helmets... i've read them and they all end up going down the Schuberth or Tour X route....

This question is specifically regarding OWNERS of, or people with EXPERIENCE with the Caberg Justissimo AND the R1200GS...

I'm looking to buy two new helmets... limited budget (for me and pillion) and i'm expecting to do 90% good weather riding.....

What experiences have you guys had with the Caberg, and would you guys (and gals) recommend it for touring, summer use predominantly?

Thanks GS'ers.... opinions greatly valued.

For info, i'm 6'0, with a 5'7 pillion (and we're on the faster Red, Silver, Black bike version, if that helps :D )

Caberg Justissimo

I have a Justissimo and as a flip-front helmet it performs very well. The button to release the catch so that you can raise the front is easy top operate with one hand, and the dark drop-down visor is a great feature. I'm six foot tall, and although I haven't used it much with the 1200 I don't recall it being over noisy. Only slight criticism I have is in regard to the fact that I wear moulded ear plugs and I do find the Caberg a little more uncomfortable than my Arai. If I was wearing the Caberg all the time I'd shave a little off the moulded plugs. For this reason, if you have a bike to pillion communication system system you might find that the system speakers put pressure on the ears.

Before you buy the Caberg have a look at the BMW Evo System 4 and see what kind of a deal you can get - I have 2 pals who really rate the helmet. Pidcocks at Long Eaton have them for £195 and may even do a deal on 2.

Good luck with your deliberations

Me and the missus had them. She's happy with hers as a pillion but I found it very noisy on the GS, not just wind noisebut some funny resonances and cracking noises. Also, heavy rain used to find its way INSIDE the visor which is VERY dodgy indeed. I think Whatton's story says it all, one hour and he wants rid.
I went for the BMW evo system 4 when Astles in Grimsby were selling them at £185. It is brill, no earplugs required, comfy, and it doesn't fog up.
I'm six foot too.
HTH:)

Thanks guys.... all feedback/advice much appreciated... i'll look into the system 4..... see how it feels etc....

I've been using a Justissimo pretty much every day for over a year now. I'd recommend it - comfy, quiet, and the flip up is great in the summer and if you wear glasses like me. The visor has an anti-mist inside coating which has worked 100% during the winter's commute through London traffic. The only complaint is that the seal around the top of the visor could be better, as rain can work its way inside the visor. I've had this problem on plenty of other lids though, and the System 4 helmets I've seen can be a bit "gappy" along the top edge of the visor too.

Ultimately the big problem with helmets is we've all got different shaped heads - so fit, comfort and noise will vary for each of us, and so our views are very subjective. That said, for the money, I think the Justissimo is an excellent lid. Oh and don't forget the flip down sun visor - you'll look as cool as f*** in the summer, and it's good for psyching out bad drivers.

I have one and I don't rate it very high, It is noisy and I have had rain on the inside of my visor but I still wear it however I am looking for something better.

thanks everyone for your views and opinions, all have been taken on board and points noted....

think i'm going to go ahead and get one, the main issue of complaint seems to be rain leaking into the visor, and i don't expect to do too much wet riding, so it's not that big a deal for me.

Guess i can justify buying 2 of them at £150 each, then if i'm not happy i can buy again after about a year or so... (once the finances have settled down again having bought the GS12 etc)

thanks again everyone... much appreciated.
