I was on the point of buying some Touratech Panniers, but was quoted about a 6 week wait, so I decided to look elsewhere and liked the look of Civil's panniers.

I emailed him and within a couple of weeks they had been made and delivered to my door. If anybody else is in the market for some aluminium panniers, I can recommend these.

They were easy to fit, are stable loaded or unloaded, don't get in the way of my ever present pillion and are narrower than the bars so you can still squeeze between the tin boxes. :thumb

I've got some padlocks on order from tooled-up.com and my good lady is making some liner bags, I'll post some more pics when they're finished if anybody is interested.

Thanks for all your help Phil, much appreciated.

Looks nice - how long did you have to wait for these?

Any chance of some close up photo's of the metal work without the panniers on?

Thanks.

Metalwork

There were 5 days between payment and despatch (during which time, the panniers and mounting frames were made) and then 7 working days for delivery, so a little over 2 weeks all in.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait until next time I need to take them off for pics of the metalwork. There's no quick release system on Civil's panniers and the mounting bolts all have loctite on them. I intend to leave them on full time (upcoming RoTW) so quick release isn't an issue for me as it may be for some.

The mounting frames are steel plate (about 6mm thick). The left side lower hole picks up on the silencer mount, the upper on the bmw case mount. The right side lower end clamps the subframe and the upper hole on the bmw case mount.

There are two cross bars at the rear. The upper bar can just be seen in the first picture, above the tail light. The lower bar runs behind the number plate.

Civil includes a mounting bracket for the indicators which goes behind the number plate. This remounts the indicators further back, clear of the panniers.

I think it looks pretty tidy, but I've not seen TT or any others close up. I'm at HU UK meeting in June, so I should be able to make some comparisons there.
