Caja Sahel : Adventure Luggage :

Your replies have been abusive and foul mouthed. You can have the playground to yourself.

agreed motomartin, these panniers are handmade and not buy pushing a button on a machine, jesse luggage are handmade and are suppose to be the best pannier,no curves either,i rest my case

These boxes, and similar ones are made square in order to be easily packed, hold lots, and to sit on.
I thought everyone on this site realised this.
I dont think anyone really considers them to be attractive.

Captain Birdseye ..... I think you have stumbled onto the wrong forum. We like square and ugly things here.

so we all agree about the aestheticssssssssssssssssssssssss ,then again birds are full of poos

:D

Oh, and Civil... while i'm at it , fitted your Footflaps :thumb Far superior to Wally flaps i had on before...

Specially liked the curved edge ;)

Curved lids

These are not the standard lids , the flat lids are now the Std.
The rounded lids now cost extra.

Civil, those non-standard lids look like a press formed compound curve shape, are they? ;)
What price for a set of boxes?

Top Box

This is a prototype Top Box.

Just as a matter of interest , these are the actual Panniers that
were on the Africa expedition , Western sahara , Morocco ,
Countless falls , Dont they look well !
I am pleasently surprised at how well they stood the pace.

Sorry but I think they lood dreadful.

They look as if they are fabricated from sheet - not a curve in sight which makes them weaker. Are they hung onto frames made of Dexion?

Stop me and buy one... was that a 99 Sir, would you like crushed nuts on the top?

When I saw thier bikes in Erfound the RH pannier had been hitting the drive box on both bikes. One bike had a 2 gouge across the drive box and the pannier frames where all twisted. If you look at the bike laying on the ground ealier in this thead you can clearly see the frame is not holding the panniers straight.
If you have not seen the damage I am sure Sugarcube and Jockster can supply photos.
I guess you can make changes to overcome this.

Steve,

This has now been sorted. We were the guinea pigs and had to report back all the problems to Civil. My bike is up there now being sorted and Civil lent me his bike. Surprisingly, when I picked up his bike his panniers had all the changes to the problems we suffered sorted!

These are without doubt the best panniers about. They saved the bike and are completely dust proof and waterproof... and Civil is well, very civil.

Errol.

Good news that it has been sorted. How has it been fixed, what about the damage to your bikes can that be fixed.
When are you going to post more photos of your trip.

The new panniers are great and I forgot to mention that the pannier frames have also been completely revamped.

In regards to the damage to rear drive, I am getting it smoothed out and and a bit of paint over the top. I am not too worried about it as its a bit of a war wound from doing the M4 fully loaded. The new panniers dont touch the rear at all any more so I don't have to tighten the suspension to stop the travel.

As for the photos...there is so many of them! I managed to get them sorted in date order and I have uploaded them to the web so I am halfway there. Need to get the time to write the report up. Hopefully this weekend!

Have found it hard to get motivated since I have come back.

In fairness Steve, if I'd dropped the bike on you as many times as I dropped it on the panniers you'd be a bit out of shape too :D

Also dunderhead here had not used loctite (despite the instructions :o ) on the bolts holding the cross ties & these were found to be loose the following morning.

Apart from a couple of scrapes (and some yellow paint - thanks Errol ;) ) the only damage was on the LH pannier rail after a fairly hard fall.

Good kit :thumb . Happy customer :D . Nuf said ;)
