Done a cracking route for the 660 a couple of years ago, but typically wiped it :blast

Planning on Calais towards Mainz.... then across to Augsburg, then down to Garmisch.... We're not booking a hotel for the stop over Mainz area, just winging it....

Has anyone got a GPX route file that would fit the bill :augie

Thanks Bryn :beerjug:

new bike for the trip sir :augie

Will you work me one out for Calais to Lake Bled in Slovenia avoiding Italy? :)

i'LL WORK YOU A LITTLE ROUTE OUT THIS AFTERNOON AND PM YOU LATER:thumb

Calais>Charelville Meziers>Sedan>Verdun>Metz>Strasbourg(M/way) or Chateau Salins>Sarrebourg>Saverne>Strasbourg ...........then over the Rhine to Bad Peterstal (in the Black Forest)

Stay here @ Bad Peterstal http://www.hot-hirsch.de/
Good value, excellent food and has a brilliant cellar bar where you can mingle with the locals and one of my favourite hotels in Germany:thumb2

Bad Peterstal>Freudenstadt>Tubingen>>Reutlingen>Riedlingen>Bad Buchau>Bad Schussenreid>Bad Waldsee>Wolfegg>Isny>Oberstaufen and onto the sublime Deutsche HoheAlpenstrasse>Immenstadt>Tannheim>Reutte.....then take the back door Reutte>Plansee>Graswang>Ettal>Oberau into Garmisch and take the fabulous twisty road past the Konigsschloss @ Linderhof (the shooting Palace) and Plansee lake, before finally dropping into Garmisch Partenkirchen, from the Oberau end

If you want to shorten Day 1, you can do the first part as follows Calais>St Quentin>Reims on the m/way and D931/D3 to Verdun

That is a route I've done many times and is a cracker:thumb2

Hello kev go down though germany munich  salzburg villach. lobi pass bled but i think there is a tunnel now, nice camp site at lake bled.

This goes from Black Forest to Ruette, amazing scenery, twisty roads, just carry on to Garmish on L255 past lake Plansee, another great road.

It looks like a longer way in to Ruette, but it takes the Namlos / Brand road which is just awesome, I guarantee this will put a huge smile on your face! :thumb2

I second this route, and if you get the chance have a look around Weingarten. It's a lovely little town to explore. Need any other advice about Germany, just ask. I lived 18 years there 10 of which was driving HGVs around the country.

Keep it Safe :aidan
