I've just found out that Calterdons the local BMW dealers is being sold to Arnold Clarks, but will still sell and service bikes. If the existing Lithuanian mechanic leaves, they'll lose a lot of business as he is very good.
Been made to feel like I was pond life every time I walked in there (its a car dealership which flogs bikes on the side) - on the other hand the mechanic you mention gets very good feedback.
A mate took up Arnold Clark's "Half Price MOT" offer recently. After well over a grands worth of parts and a two day wait it was twenty-five quid well saved!
A lack of competition can only work one way and it won't be for the consumer.
