Cam chain guides, cams, bearings and anything else that can go clunk!

Can you see where the Chain guides, or what little is left are?

Seriously not good. :( Is it better to replace the engine?

If you have access to it, powder coating will give the most durable finish to the engine cases. I'm a huge fan as its hardly any more costly than paint and much more durable. The finish is baked at about 180C harmful to magnesium alloys, so do check.!!!

It can then be flatted off and painted in silver so you get the normal appearance with less risk of the alloy corroding. Or leave it black :)

Another option is anodising. The thin oxide layer allows the whole case to be done inside and outside. But being so thin it cant be flatted to key the paint primer.

Parts of the cases are yellowed due to years of leaking oil, petrol and what not.

Anodizing and powder coating are better options, as per factory finish but....preparations in removing the key pivot bearings is what I want to avoid. Just tape up delicate parts, sand, prime and paint. I suppose that is sufficient to my needs.

Although it would be neat to have a 1150 triple black!
