Over 50? How did I miss that. :o
Nathan, if you look at the last lap for the first test, do you reckon you lost a minute on that check? I don't think I did, there seem to be a few people who's times have jumped by that amount.:nenau

I never did anything daft enough to loose that much time...and i'd actually planned for that hairpin instead of overshooting like the previous laps.

Apart from the last lap, my test times for the first stage were within half a second of each other.

I know i eased off through the last lap as the course was getting very greasy, but not by that much, :nenau

I had heard a rumor of a broken timing cable upsetting things, but never heard anything more than that.

Anyhow..i could sit and speculate as to the results, but it won't make a farts bit of difference. Don't think i've made the top ten this time.....

the best result was a cracking weekend charging around the welsh countryside...

They have me down as a class winner, shame I was not on the airhead as it would have counted!

That's my result just above yours Tim - oh does that mean I was faster ;-)

My thoughts exactly. The broken timing cable was on the second test though, Craig Bounds wrapped it round his back wheel. That was when Denise and Claire were taking photos.
There are 4 riders, you, me, Phil Gunn and Robert Hughes who seem to have 100 seconds more than previous for that check. If that is incorrect, then you would be in the top ten. :augie (and I would be 5th, can't have Shez beating me! :D)
If it is correct, then so be it. I've sent a pm to Bob Jeffries to ask who to raise the query with, that and my age difference. :rob

I am proud to say I didnt come in last! Stopped to help one of the KTMs on the second test of the second lap that had taken a tumble.

There were some ladies taking fotos on the tracks anybody got those? if anybody has fotos of riders on bikes 61to 64 I would be greatful if you could email them to me.

BTW my dakar kicks ass...I suck as an offroad rider....

Denise was taking pictures, which I wll download tonight. Will certainly send you any she has taken. There are also some photos on the WTRA results page.

I followed you for a while between the tests on the last lap. You looked very tired by that point!

Mark,

what tired me out was the rutted section on the second liaison stage. My goggles were misting up but I was pushing myself as mush as I could. I think the bike was also a bit wet so it wouldn't idle too well as you probably saw turning into that sharp right hander. Was hoping to catch up to you to see how you ride but you were far gone by the time I got out of that section.

Much appreciated about the photo's!

oh no

Oh no, just had a look at the Cambrian site again so I could continue my Foolonastrom centred gloating and it appears that the results are being recalculated .

Me and Foolonastrom may end up at the International Federation for Sport Arbitration

This could all end in tears :blast

Corrected Results are up!!!

Mark "earthmover" gaskell...6th!

it was close though. Only about 45 seconds between us over 2 days......

And i got my "in the top ten finish" !!:aidan

Time for a celebratory beer :beerjug:

If anyone got any good photo's of number 47 i'd like to have a copy please!

I made enough daft mistakes over the weekend, surely someone has one on film??

Yes, I guess I am. :D I have memorised your comments from Friday night though, and are going to have it framed and put on my wall. :thumb

Well done Nathan! And if you hadn't overshot those two corners........:D

+1 top result Mark :bow

Thank you for your kind words, I'm very pleased myself, it makes it all worth the new front wheel rim that I now need. :eek

Blimey, that makes me feel ill watching that. I hope that it was his helmet camera that was loose, not his neck!

Wreford,
that video clip was filmed by the G man from the vdsr site, he was riding a drz 400 and thats me in front on a ktm 525, it was the last lap on day 2 going through the strata florida, the G man has done a great report with some good pics on the vdsr site, jasext has already put a link to the report on this site, well worth a read and a look at the quality photos his missus took.
What a great enjoyable event, pity there werent a few more muddy/snotty,technical bits instead of 90% fire roads but hey t least we were out in some great countryside riding bikes and having fun, see you all at the red kite, anybody doing the snow run that the wtra usually run in february?
