Just a quick reminder that there are still entries available in the Cambrian Rally.

We seem to be very light on BMW's this year, 1 x 650, 2 x 800's, 1 x 1200, 1 x 450 and a HP2 so far, what's happened to all the big tough GS off-road hard men?

The route is a little different this year as just for a change we're not going over the dam and around the western edge of the reservoir, instead we're using more of the forest north of the Abergwesyn to Tregaron road and a little more of Strata Florida, although not the deepest crossings. It's the perfect way to get street cred real dirt on your GS and you can then go back to the West End Cafe in Llandovery (the local bikers cafe) and bask in the glory of parking your stinking GS amongst the pristine rice rockets, that's got to be worth the entry fee all on it's own!!

Bob, I bought the 650 Dak with the intention of doing a few rallies (for fun obviously :blast:blast:blast).

I don't know anything about how they are run, over what time period or anything. I don't even know when the events are.

I do know I'm a dumbass and if it ain't spoon fed to me I'll cock it up :thumb

I'm gonna be there... I just haven't sent my application form in yet :blast

It's gonna be my first rallye... and I'm pretty damn nervous:o

Flip - are you saying that you are entering?

I'd love to Mav, but I don't have a date or any info on how to enter or the format of the rally.

I've done the WOR hare n hounds sort of events (3 hours of non stop torture being overtaken by loons :D:D:D) but I guess this event is different (except for the being overtaken by loons :D:D:D).

Is this a timed rally, if so how is it timed, is it over different sections or over a 10 miles course that is repeated. 1 or 2 day, can I ride over in the morning do day one and bugger off home etc etc.

If I can get more info I can decide on whether I can make it or not.

I'm obviously a numpty and there's no doubt a website for all this info :blast

Flip, to save typing time, ask me next week. I've entered the Cambrian, and done most of the UK rallies.
You'll have no problem at all.
Mark

I'm entered on the Airhead but may well do the event on the X Challenge as the Airhead will be apart being prep'd for next March.

It's going to be fun... is Llandovery still the base?

Thanks for the info guys (especially Hustler) that explains alot.

Unfortunately too rich for me at the mo especially as it's a 2 day event ie I'll need accomodation and booze money :blast:blast:blast

Thanks for the offer Ian. I have a tent but it's £120 :eek::eek:

Add in your fuel etc and it's £160. I'm sure I have a million things I could spend that sort of money on that won't get me a week in the wifes sin bin :thumb

Cambrian

re my other post in this section, I was saying that the build up to the Autumn rallies seems a bit quiet, but at least the Cambrian seems to be gathering a head of steam now.

I think I chased Wrefords airhead round the Red Kite this year and recognising Timolgras mighty Rallye won't be a problem. I shall be at the Hafren and Cambrian on my xr650 and I hope RickA and others make it.

An honest accountant would probably put the weekend at £250 once you've done tyres/camping/beer/jack daniels/entry fee/getting there and so on but the weekend last year was one of the best I've had on a bike in many years. I spent the whole weekend laughing inside my helmet, thinking I can't believe this is legal and we are allowed to do it. I am sure that having this much fun hooning around forestry land will be banned one day, so despite the fact that I am absolutely broke and will be raiding the kids family allowance bank account, I shall be there.

For comraderie, fun, slogging through mud at 2mph, helping those less fortunate :augie and then racing down gravel tracks at 90mph and of course telling tall tales over a beer in the pub afterwards, it can't be beaten

I can't make it this year as I will be offshore but had a ball last year. It's a great opportunity to have a blast round some stunning scenery with like minded people and very well organised.

Good food in the Castle Pub to in Llandovery so if you want some fun head on over.

Good Luck - Are you taking Moose this year Tim:augie

Ha ha:D

I took a... ahem, bit of a tumble on the Rallye bike whilst on Salisbury Plain with resulting pain so've entered on the Husaberg unless this injury heals soon:o

I have entered for the second year, but will be on a 410 Husky as it seems to like eating dirt better than the GS.

Tim, There is probably nothing wrong with you!! too embarrassed to take the big toy again after your "moment" at the end of special stage last year. Yes I was there watching/laughing at you.

Fred

Glad to see there'll be a load of UKGS'ers there and that Tim might get to ride the whole two days!!

The base is still at Llandovery and camping is still OK at the rugby club.

The start area will be in a different place, further around the eastern side of the reservoir and into the Nant yr Hwch forest block.

As usual I'll be doing the timing at one of the two special stages.
