The last Camel Foot I originally made for the R1200GS (LC) and R1250GS has just found a new owner.
So first of all: a big thank you to everyone who picked one up over the past few months! I hope it's keeping your bike steady, maybe catching a few looks – or even making someone smile now and then.
After finally ticking off a long-time dream last year and taking my bike on a ride toward the edge of the map, building something like this was kind of a second little dream: creating something that’s not only functional, but maybe something you'd want just because it’s fun or cool. I honestly didn’t expect it to catch on like this – which makes it all the more rewarding. Thanks again!
Also, big shout-out to the forum admins who let me use this space to offer it – not something to take for granted, and without it, this little project probably wouldn’t have taken off.
But I’m not done just yet – few of you have already asked if there’ll be a version for the R 1300 GS. Good news: something’s in the works!
As mentioned, I still have a few sets left for the air-cooled models. Happy to let those go at the end for €17,50, plus €3,50 per powder-coated plate (plus €5,85 shipping) – just drop me a PM if you're interested.
Wishing all of you safe rides and plenty of adventures – with or without a camel foot!
Right then. Let's get things straight about this 'AIR COOLED' nonsense. THIS is an aircooled GS. NONE of the 1150, 1200, 1250 or 1300 models are 'aircooled', they all have liquid filled radiators.
I will have one of these camel toes in red, if it will fit the ORIGINAL GS side stand.
I will have to do some pictures for you to have a looksee. If you can make it so it will fit, I would like a RED top to match the bike please. It might be a day or two before I can do some pictures, I am away working.
Hi @King Rat,
got it – loud and clear!
And by the way, super cool bike – proper old-school legend.
Unfortunately, I’ve only got one single camel foot left in blue/black/stainless steel.
But if you restored the bike yourself, I’m guessing a custom red powder coat wouldn’t be a problem for you, right?
Just send me a few pics of the sidestand when you get the chance – I’ll check if it fits.
No rush, I’ll be here when you're back from work!
Cheers,
Mike
Great kit- get one while you can. you'll be glad you did - picking up ones' pride and joy is seldom much fun- and your vertebrae will thank you.
Have another bump Mike. No connection aside from a chuffed customer!
Mine arrived and I’m over the moon. It was worth waiting for as I’ve been meaning to get one for 13 years lol.
The packaging was excellent and the pic made me smile. The toe itself, is quality and I’m thankful that I ordered one when I did ( I reckon others, will be queuing )
due to popular demand I had another small batch of camel feet made.
In addition to the existing color combos (pure stainless, matte-black/stainless, sky-blue/matte-black, and oriental-red/matte-black), there’s now a neon-green/matte-black version and — which I think looks really cool — an Indian-brown metallic/light-grey combo.
The same color combos are also available for the air-cooled GS, and (but more on that later) for the R1300GS, Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin, and Yamaha Tenere 700.
Hey folks,
I’ve been asked if I’d consider adapting the camel foot to other bikes — so I sat down, did some CAD tinkering, and after a good stretch of prototyping the lineup just got bigger:
• Yamaha Ténéré 700 — tested by a buddy on the TET in Albania this year.
• Honda Africa Twin CRF 1100L
• BMW R1300 GS & Adventure
• Plus a camel-foot side-stand puck for any bike where a regular camel foot won’t fit, e.g., the Aprilia RS 660.
Turns out the camel foot I first made for the Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L also fit the classic BMW R80 GS and the Suzuki V-Strom!
And I even got some pro shots — huge thanks to Simon (@King Rat ) for those!
Simon also dropped some awesome reviews — if you’re curious, just hit the links!
