Camera download prob.

Hi all, starting to have a problem with downloading photos from digital camera. I have used the same camera and computer for the past year and nothing has been changed apart from going broadband.
When downloading images I am getting more and more copies of the same photos. Just deleted 76 copies of six pictures that I took today.
The camera and computer are both set for single image.
Don't think its the camera as I took the card out and tried it in the reader but the same thing happened.



done everything I can think of, anybody suggest sumat I'm missing please ?

Running XP pro and the camera download software is HP.

Are the card contacts clean?

You could try wiping them with a soft cloth.

Otherwise, invest in more cards and resist from using that one for anything important

Let me get this straight......when you open up the images folder after you connect the camera, is there only one copy of each image shown on the card??

Then when you upload the pics, they appear multiple times??

sounds bizarre......can't think of any reason for it but I'd uninstall any programmes and the drivers for the camera (there's probably an uninstall option on the original cd rather than doing it from Ctrl Panel>add remove progs), then re-install it from scratch after rebooting your PC.

Hi Ian and Fanum.

Just changed the SD card and tried again, perfickt.

Cant see any damage to the contacts and they all look in good clean condition, but the original card has been very well used.

Dunno, perhaps the cards have a limited life span ?

Oh well, of to the shops Mon to find a replacement.

Duly popped into the local puter shop and asked about a replacement card. 128 =£38.00 +

A little bell started to ring in the back of my mind !

Checked via Google tonight and can buy at 1/3 of their price.

Now the big question is...........Whats the big difference between the quality ? I have never used SD cards before getting my camera and Palm. Is it a bit like RR.

Rolls Royce and Reliant Regal ?

I believe quality might vary. I have bought CF cards from eBay. Just always bought well known branded ones like Sandisk Lexar or Bytestor. Never had any problems with any of them. Recently bought two 1 Gig CF cards for about £70.00 each one from UK seller and one from US seller on eBay. I think I got one card the day after I paid by PayPal.
