Anyone have any recommendations for a good campsite?

My advice would be to just wing it, start riding the smaller roads and you'll soon come across signs for camping, usually there's room for a couple of despereste-looking polite bikers.

If you want some additional help, there's a GPX file knocking about which contains about 19,000 campsites throughout Europe, most of them in France. I've got this loaded onto my Garmin Zumo as custom POIs, but haven't had the chance to use it in anger yet. That said, I did pop down to Nancy over the weekend and was pleased to see that all of the little tent symbols that appeared on my Zumo as I was riding down were in fact represented in real life by actual camp sites, all of them in business.

Again, I'd play it lucky and hope for the best while you're riding, but if that's not your bag then I can seriously recommend the Alan Rogers camping guide that's available in WHSmith throughout the UK. It's like a Michelin guide for camping and very comprehensive indeed, so you can see what facilities are on offer, make your comparisons, and book ahead of time.

Hope it helps!

Mup.
