Camshaft sprocket cover leaking oil

on My '96 R11ooGS c 69k miles.

I've had the head protector off, cleaned all around thoroughly and took for a spin in the glorious September sun So I know it's not the head cover gasket.

Thing is,, according to Haynes (AFAICT) there is no gasket or seal behing it?

Any ideas on best course of repair? I'm off to Brittany week after next.

I'm thinking: off with it, a good smear of silicon and stick it back on, but that seems too simples...

There is an "O" Ring on 1150 looks like same on 1100?
