Can a Zumo play iTunes files?

What MS operating system are you using? I used to have appalling problems because I was on WinME and that couldn't see any SD card which was SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity), i.e. capacity more than 2GB. Shouldn't be a problem if your USB drivers and software are all up to date though.

Cheers Mr Beard, I'm running XP, never had any probs with cards before but admittedly never had an 8GB Sandisc before so could be something related to that I suppose...?

Hello mate, long time no see. Hope you and the Mrs are in good keeping...

I've found the @MP3 Convert' option, but can't get my PC to see the SD Card...

i've just realised who you are :blast :)

nice to hear from you again, but can't help with the shy zumo file. my experience of adding music is limited, as i use an ipod.

actually, i had a similar problem ages ago. in the end, in order for the zumo to see the music files, i had to replicate the garmin file structure on the card.

but...

i just had a look on my 660 and i seem to have the opposite problem to you. there is music on the unit. it comes up on the display. yet when i search the folders there are no music files to be found on the inbuilt memory or the card, and i've gone over them several times :eek

garmin suck at software. best of luck :beerjug:

Yeah, great product but shite software sums it up...

That seems strange. XP should be OK, even if only patched to SP2 and if the other PC can read the Sandisk OK, it kind of rules out the Sandisk being faulty.

Do you have another card reader you can try?

I've discovered that Windows XP doesn't support SDHC cards over 2gb.

Although there are several Hotfixs available from Microsoft, it's clear none of them solve the problem - the only solution (other than 'upgrading' Windows OS) is to buy a card reader that is Micro SDHC compatible. I got one from Maplins £7.99.

Greg - Sorry if I hijacked your thread a tad there, wasn't my intention :)

Andrew & all, I've had same problem and have followed your advice but when I right click on a track in my tracks in my iTunes music library there is no 'convert to MP3' option..

Baffled now...

in my latest version of iTunes if you right click on a track, one of the options is "Create MP3 Version" - I'm running on XP - do you have that?

There are several Sound File Converters available on the Internet. I used Switch Sound File Converter recently to convert WMA files to MP3 for the Garmin Zumo.

It supports bulk processing and several different file formats. It was free to try, but maybe requires a small payment for longer term use.

I've been using Switch Sound File Converter for a LOOOONG time and it's free.

You only have to upgrade if you want to convert to certain formats, such as m3u, etc to create your own ringtones on iPhones, but you can do that in Itunes anyway.

OK, thanks Jon

Just been doing this for my new Zumo

I have created a playlist with all the tracks I want.

Then I right click on the playlist name and select export.

I have selected .m3u as the file type and the SD card as the destination.

It seems quite simple to me, have I done something wrong?
