I know this has been done to death and that there's a search button but maybe someone can give me a simple answer to my simple question.:blast

I want to remove the fogs lights from a 1200 GSA and replace them with HID's, can I use the wiring from the OEM fogs to power the HID's or do I need to start from scratch and use a relay.:nenau

Rip me apart if you wish but please give an answer:rob

Assuming your bike is like my '08 GSA then the answer is no. You can use the existing loom but you will need to cut off the connectors to the standard bulb and make a hole in the back of the lights itself to take the longer bulb (if using the OEM units). Fairly easy to do. You will need to connect the cut wires to the new HID bulb wiring and I forget which is live and which is neutral. There are installation instructions on the HID50.com site which will tell you this - I think blue is live on mine.

Thanks for the reply but I probably didn't make myself clear. I have a new set of HID auxiliary lights complete with ballasts, I want to remove the OEM fogs and install the new lights. Can I use the existing wiring from the OEM lights ??

Yes no probs, make sure the polarity (i.e pos to pos and earth to earth) is correct and all should be well.

As davegs say's yes, it's easy enough to do. I would leave enough wire on the oem bulb connectors you cut off so that you can revert back if you need to in the future. You will ned to crimp on a spade connector to both of these wires to connect to the HID's. If they are 50w HID's you could also uprate the fuses to 10A - the fuse box is under the beak on the R/H side as you look from the front of the bike.

Thank's for that guy's, the fact that the CAN BUS will drive the new set-up make's the whole thing much easier to install:thumb

Thanks again.
