Hi, am going camping on my 091200gsa tomorrow and while packing thought i would try to inflate my airbed just to make sure it has not got a hole in it, i have got a 12volt pump with a bmw male end which i used last year on my 1150gsa no probs:), but when i tried it today the pump started then died straight away:( so i turned the ignition off then back on but fired the bike up then tried the pump again and the same result pump started then off again:(.
I have spoke to a couple of mates from on here and they have the same opinion that it could be a low battery, av got to be honest and say the bikes 6months old and only done 800miles:augie, was just wondering if anyone else is off the same opinion? the bike starts no probs.

cheers tarry

If the bikes starting ok dont think it would be the battery, and anyway if its doing the same with the engine running then the alternator should be supply more than enough power, i would hazard a guess that its the canbus saying your drawing to much power through the socket and shutting it down. Have you tried anything else in the socket that is drawing less power?? just to see if it stays on.

The draw for the airpump is too high tripping the canbus virtual fuse. you cant use the factory socket so you need to connect directly to the battery or install a second power outlet straight off the battery that way avoiding the canbus :thumb

Exactly.

You can only take 5 amps off the socket before the 'peweter shuts it down

sorted

Cheers lads, panic over snipped the bm male socket off and fitted crocodile clips, now works a treat so no bad back tomorrow night:thumb
