Take another pic with the cap removed...............

Have you removed the plug cap and had a look at the brown goo?

The dribble at the bottom looks a bit like emulsified oil (oil and water mixed) was the bike recently washed before you set off?

Cant seem 2 pull it out dont want 2 force it before rydales get it but this is a better picture.

the goo is all crusty ie a solid and it's running like a dog, the black plastic looks to have cracked as well.

No not washed the bike for a few days.

Is that a split in the plug cap in the first photo?

I'd leave it to the warranty and not do anything further just to ensure there's no quibble.

I agree.
Just really curious as to wtf would have caused it.

crusty

Have you come off in a park or something, looks like baked on dog shit. :D
But WTF is it?can it be the resin they use in electronics that stop them vibrating to bits?could explain the rough running :nenau they don't even look like plug caps anymore do they  Andy

Yea nice one, no dog shit there, never hit hit deck, just rode it like it should be :mmmm
.
Not a clude what it could be,just a bit odd that i have had new rocker cover due to constant oil leak from filler cap then it stopped when the weather got colder,
Now this.
Will need to get a print out from BM's as i've lost count of all the breakdowns, and things likenew rear shock, loose switchgear and the like.
Still love the bike but the hassle is doing my head in.Now  Where's me old blue and white one gone. Slowley getting *issed ere .......... :beerjug:

I would say it is the coil breaking down, mine went similar but not as bad and the left one was worse, moisture gets in to the area but can't get out and the coil breaks down.
Have you noticed the bike running bad, uneven idle, worse thatn these run anyway? and is a warranty job, but so you know a new plug cap is around £50 each.. as the coil is inbuilt.

It looks like fried copper slip. Has the spark plug come undone and melted everything?
Copper slip, i would have thought will have a high melting point dont know how high though will check when back in work.
Would they use it on spark plug fitting.
This has only had anything done by Rydales so ?I look forward to see what they say, unfortunatly been called in for my day off so looks like the train for me. :spitfire :spitfire  :nono

Thanks snooky.
Its been running crap today on the way to work but as it was 6am just put it down to the weather.

do not ride!!!!! the coil that is the bit on the plug has comitted suicide ..
it needs to be taken or picked up...

running on a misfire will knacker the cat if you still have it fitted..

Thanks slimbo, no cat fitted and remus, will be on to rydales a.m. they are pretty good so can collect.
But the question i still have is why has it fried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If moisture can get in does this mean all river crossers are heading for a fry up?

Not sure how it get n, washing I guess, and maybe river crossings, at least you know what to do once they are replaced....
My new ones were sprayed with ACF50, left to dry then done again, then coated from top to bottom in high temp grease before fitting. Checked them last week after 4 months and all is fine in there. Steptoe told me about them and is quite a common problem as they coil part of the plug cap is not protected in anyway, should be rubber coated really, but then that wouldn't make extra money would it.... :nono
