Can someone tell me where to pick up a switched Live from

Got my LED front fogs connected to the Acc socket under the dash but it stays on for ages after the Ignition is switched off,
can anyone tell me where they have picked up a switched Pos from to power there stuffs

Ive gone to the back light before but that dont seem to be 12V ??

See similar / identical threads but in the meantime, in common with most bikes down the ages: Try the auxiliary power socket supply. Not the rear brake light feed, obviously.

As with investments, other alternatives are possible. Some as simple, others much more complicated. Bikers like complicated, remember that.
 
Tried that Wapping mate but it makes the fogs flicker like mad ?? judst thought there may be something somewhere that Ive missed I found one on the XR no problem this is a bit harder LOL
 
Under the rider's seat there's whar looks like a big connector ( right hand side) it's actually a fuse box and you can use a piggy back fuse to tak a supply from there.
 
As above. The thinnest red with a brown trace should give you a live to feed a switch and relay. You'll need to pull the main power from the battery.

this is what I have used to provide an additional power socket with enough amps to power a tyre compressor - on my RS there are 2 fuses - 1 is always live, 1 is switched with the CANBUS. Please note, just like your current situation, the relay will remain on until the CANBUS is deactivated.
 
Power for mine come from the parking/sidelight - R1200RT

In my opinion Its best to go to this connector to the rear of the aux power supply to the right side of instrument cluster, it's easy to get at, just solder a wire to existing loom..
It is good for 2 reasons,
1, circuit is protected by canbus..
2, keeps cable runs short so less chance of snags or short circuits in the future.

I've only just wired my leds up but run perfect, this wire is to trigger the relay, main supply needs to come direct from battery via fuse. (The jump post on frame)

Unless you want to use the accessory socket for something else, then you may as well use it to power the LEDs using a DIN plug - it's the way I've got mine wired. LEDs typically take so little current that you don't need a fused supply from the battery, the Canbus is fine. As someone else has pointed out, if you use the accessory socket live to trigger a relay the lamps will still remain on for a couple of minutes when you turn off the ignition. IMHO, the hassle of triggering a relay is only worth it if you want the accessory socket to power something else. It won't (for example) power a Gerbing heated jacket (the jacket draws too much current, and the Canbus powers down the socket). I've fitted a DIN socket for the jacket (wired to the battery) in the small plastic panel just below the front seat.
 
Thats exactly as I have it the LED fogs and Dash cam are being powered straight from the Acc socket which seems to be working all ok but it does stay on for 3 mins after the Ign is turned off, its not the end of the world as I can quite easily pull the plug if I want them off sooner, just wondered if there was a switched live anywhere that would solve this, ill check the above options if not ill just wire them up to the back of the socket so I can still use that for power for the tank bag

Hi Rob, got me thinking how long my aux socket keeps the power on for, had to time it last night, exactly 60 seconds, your 3 minutes is excessive although great at fuel stations for keeping the sat nav alive.
I have fitted an illuminated on/off switch with my lights, it came with the kit, relay & lights.
 
Cheers guys all sorted now I used the little fuse box with the 2 fuses in it as a sw + lights and camera stay on for 30 secs now which is fine
