Can you fit an IDE HD along with a SATA?

I was was wanting to know if i can get a IDE drive fitted along with the SATA drive in my system

my motherboard is an Asus p5ld2-tmv se/s

and if the answer is yes..... how do i do it?

yep no probs at all, you have sata ports on your board so its a case of a sata cable (thin red one is the normal colour) and a sata power cable or a convertor from a normal molex connection to the sata drive.
 
the conections are there on the PC for the IDE ribbon cable and power conections.... I'd like to use them if possible..
 
Just connect the SATA drive in the normal way. The same with the IDE drive making sure you have the jumpers set correctly. If, for instance you have a CD drive on the IDE then make the HDD slave to it.
The trick will be in the boot order in the BIOS but once booted the O/S should recognise the IDE HDD no problem ..................................ish

Assuming the BOS is similar to my Asus P5 board, then there will also be a setting to enable the IDE connection.

You ought to be able to tweak the boot order, but don't be surprised if the drive mappings screw up.
