Can you retrofit multifunction 1250GS indicators to a 1200?

and I also discovered that BMW sell repair plugs/sockets that plus into the rear light and into the mating connector on the bike harness. This means a can take a feed from the rear brake and number plate light without having to tap into the factory harness. I will still have to run 12V to the new indicators but I already have a supply going to the Denail horn at the front and the rear is easy to add.

quick update in case anyone is interested. After much research I discovered that I have two options for multi-function indicators. Option 1 is to buy a module from here https://emotion-ride.de/bmw-nachruestungen/multifuntionale-blinkleuchten/ for €310 plus shipping or €610 including 4 new BMW indicators. This would give my R1200GS the latest R1250GS indicators. I also discovered that there is a huge thread on the German GS owners website complaining that the latest 1250 indicators are not bright enough and that you can't see the indicator when the brake light is on.

Option 2 was a complete set of aftermarket indicators from Weiser https://www.weisertechnik.co.uk/product/extreme-evo-dual-function-front-triple-function-rear-kit/ which look less trendy but are much brighter. These have a better system which switches off the left rear brake light and left front running light when indicating left, and the same for the right. £439 for a complete kit. I have ordered a set of these.
Pleased to see that the advice in post #7 has not been forgotten..............

the BMW ones come with wires pre-attached and are not that expensive. £18 for 2.
Hi - great thread, i just joined the forum. I have also been working on a solution to this. I think I have a way to run to run the new MF indicators on my 2016 F800GSA to provide Indicator, side light (running light) and brake light, and to keep the center light functions. I will inhibit the side and brake light while the indicator is on for visibility. Have been trying to work on it for a few months but should have it working in the next weeks.

My new indicators have arrived from Weiser, just haven't had time to fit them yet. I don't like the way the kit taps into the main OE harness to take triggers for the brake and turn functions, so I am making a mini-harness that fits between the main harness and the rear light. The mini-harness will have sealed splices with brake/turn feeds for the Weiser controller.

Multi-function Rear Turn Lights
Hi All,
Finally got it done after a false start.
This will fit any pre-Multi turn bike, and can be done for aroun $100.

I have a 2017 1200GS that I'm still very happy with, no plans to change, especially as I've just fitted Akrapovic headers. I saw a 1250GS go past today and I like the multifunction indicators with tail/stop light at the rear. Has anyone tried to retrofit these? The wiring mods should be simple - just running 2 extra wires to the new indicators I imagine - but I'd love to know whether anyone has done this. Thanks!
This may help somebody.
