Not quite last minute but not far off, wife found out about total solar eclipse (her sort of thing) so we had to go back to Canada. At least it’s the other side this time, just at Heathrow waiting to fly to Toronto. Only staying 6 nights so economy of scale doesn’t really work. More later.

image4.jpegimage3.jpegIMG_0447.jpeg giving my car to this chap (from a company with terrible reviews) who took loads of pictures as I did to play spot the difference with when it comes back, we wandered into terminal 2 and eventually boarded our Boeing 777-300ER, picture below for Busy Builder to see the available legroom in economy (I did stuff the pocket full of all sorts though), I’m 6ft 1 with a 33 inside leg if that helps. Relatively comfortable flight, had a bit of banter with the cabin steward who ended up giving me 6 bottles of wine!
Just arrived at the Intercontinental for two free nights in this room.

WTF does anybody hand over their car keys at an airport?

Collect it and two weeks later a flurry of speeding and parking tickets arrive in the post. That’s after an extra 500 miles put on the clock and mysterious bumps and scratches visible in the daylight :)

From Ottawa we travelled to Montreal, another decent room in an Intercontinental Hotel. The worst potholed roads I’ve ever seen, more or less zigzagging through the city trying not to damage the hire car! A lot of rain again but still explored miles of it on foot. The best fish & chips I’ve ever had ay Brit & Chips (was googling local restaurants and a picture similar to mine came up, had to see if the picture was real).
