Late 2008 GSA, Autocom and Zumo plugged into Canbus connector under headstock, been fine since new and used to shut power off about 30 seconds after ignition key turned off.

Lately it has refused to power down sometimes and very recently it's started to cycle through power off / power on every 4 - 5 seconds for upto about an hour on occasions. WTF?

Yes, I know it's under warranty and take it back e.t.c. anyone else had this?

This is deffo a canbus issue and not a zumo one as have put a meter across the connection, drives you mad!:blast

Roger.

OK - you mention the 660.

Since I updated to the latest Zumo 660 software, my canbus no longer shuts down when the ignition is turned off IF I LEAVE THE 660 CONNECTED.
It stays live.

It certainly never used to do it.

It is fine if I take the 660 out of it's cradle; it will then power down normally.

I have the same problem with a Zumo 500, what I've discovered is that if I turn ignition on and off when this happens then the canbus will shutdown correctly.

I'm having the bike in for service next week, and will have them have a look at it.

Ok, got the bike back from service. They found nothing, but I was told that when one have something attached like GPS this can happen, weather this was just :blagblah or they have a point, I don't know.

I especially see it when I have my camera (h720 Bullet Camera) connected, and then once in a while with the GPS (Zumo 500) on the bike.

is it a bmw supplied satnav?
Have seen none bmw supplied satnav's back feeding and leaving canbus live when left connected.

I've had the same problem when using a 550 connected to my 800's GPS socket, even when the Zumo is not in the cradle.

The BMW technician reckoned that the cradle draws power even when unoccupied, and prevents the bike's system from "sleeping" - result, a flat battery in a few days.

My solution was to connect the cradle to the bike via a relay, activated by the feed to the accessory socket. Haven't had a problem with the battery since then.
