The ambient air temperature on my display is 50c too high.
So the obvious culprit might be the air sensor on the left hand side of the fuel tank. (Might be a rusty earth as well)
I am told that only brand new parts are fitted to the CANbus. And even then the bike must go to a dealer to have the new item "paired up" with the main computer.
So: Is this true?
I can easily buy a S/H air sensor from the usual sources (James Sherlock and others) but will it work?
Do I then need to go to my BMW main dealer and get the whole thing matched up and talking to the main computer?

Another problem is the fuel level indicator is not going up or down. I can have a go at fixing it but a second-hand one would be great. Same problem as above?

I am a newbie with this modern stuff so any help would be gratefully received.

Air sensor for the dash is under the beak. Left side of tank is the air intake sensor for the engine.
You can just swap them, they are just sensors.

You don't say what year your bike is but if it is the fuel strip your wasting your money on a second hand one. They are notorious for breaking. The fuel strip should be calibrated to the bike with either a gs911 or the dealer. Some have managed to get away with not getting it calibrated though.

Personally so long as it hasn't failed empty with the annoying triangle I would leave it alone and use the trip and mpg. I stopped replacing the strip after number 3.
