Cannot get ESA to work

As an after thought, you say the 911 shows no faults. Was that bluetoothing it or using laptop? There is an ESA check when connnected to laptop, might be worth trying that if you havent.

A fellow gser and friend has a gs911 and after I service the bike he is kind enough to reset the service interval for me. He says when I mentioned it to him their were no fault codes for the esa and his takes around 30 seconds to activate.

I have an 09 GSA but I can't get the ESA to work. If I scroll through the soft, normal and hard settings the front makes a noise but there's no up or down spring movement....should there be?
if I start the bike and scroll through the rear settings there's nothing happening that I can see or feel. Can't hear anything from the rear because bikes running And gs911 doesn't throw up any faults.
I want to get shocks changed to wilbers but I want to make sure the ESA motors are ok before I do.....any ideas?

On my previous bike, a 2010 GS,When you press the button the icon should flash whilst the suspension raises. When it stops flashing its done. HOWEVER, i do not recall my GS making a noise when changing. Sit on the bike whilst doing it and you will feel the bike raising up as it works.

It sometimes makes a bang noise, not always. Just look at the shock on the rear from the throttle grip side of bike and you should see the top of the shock rise, just a gap getting bigger. On same side from next to front wheel with a torch look at top of shock and see if a gap appears.

Sometimes they freeze for some reason, it is worth disconnecting the battery for a minute then reconnecting and trying again. A reboot sort of thing.

Just had the bike out in bright daylight and I'm very pleased to say my rear shock is moving....:-)
What setting will make the front move and I'll check that as well?
Thanks for your help those who posted.

Tip toeing out to the garage to check mine :augie

When I got my GSA a year ago I went through the different settings to get the bike as high as possible as even with the seat lifted it felt far too low. When sat on mine my feet are still both flat on the floor.

Maybe I need my legs shortening!!

It's at the top of the spring you see the movement bear.
I'm full steam ahead now looking to get my wilbers sorted :-)
Then a trip to hilltop May/ June.... If your rearranged date falls then I'd take a spot for a group booking.

Or just pull up next to any one of the multiple potholes we have in this country and put your foot in there, may help :-)

cammy, I'd like a remap so may tag along May/June for a tootle South if you don't mind. Waiting for a house sale to go through at the moment so if it does will be able to finance it. have you done any mods to your bike along the lines of exhausts etc?

No problem bud Regarding remap :-)
My bike has Remus headers and Remus can I also had a k&n filter on it but took it off.

The ESA should be regularly cycled to all settings or it can seize up. Wilbers only change the dampers not the ESA gubbins.
