I'm going back to work for a BMW Main dealer. Thanks to all who've supported me over the years.

Hey guys.

As some of you in the North West may know, I've been running my own independent BMW workshop on the Wirral since leaving the original Chester Motorrad in 2019. It's been a life changing experience and I've met a lot of great people. I'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone on this forum who have supported me and brought me their bikes to work on.

But with the pressures of property demand, inflation, fuel costs and greedy landlords; I'm just not able to keep going on my own in this current market.

I'll be clearing out my workshop and closing doors over the next couple of months.

But with Halliwell Jones taking on the Chester Motorrad franchise and pumping a lot of money and resources into building up the Motorrad section properly, I thought it would be a good time to get back onto the ship. After 18 months of development, I've been impressed how their new team has established. And now it's being led great new service manager who seems to really understand the Motorcycle industry after 26 years experience as a Tech himself.

So I've accepted an offer to go and work with them. I'm really looking forward to getting back into a well funded , modern professional workshop.

Hopefully I'll see a few familiar faces knocking around.

Good luck with it... Its hard running a business nowadays, even if you own your premises...

and they just reduced their competition in the area .

I'm not so sure about that. 95% of my customer's bikes are over five years old. Where 95% of their customers bikes are under five years old.

We exist in different markets. But I do see your point.

All the best with your move back to BMW. I started using HJ for services and recall work last year, and so far have no complaints. They have been very professional and efficient.

Good luck with the return to the mothership, my mate just bought a pre registered 9T Urban from them and got a spectacular deal.
I did a similar thing as yourself 10 years ago packed up my own roofing company and concentrated on being a roofing lecturer at my local college, best decision I’ve made, I describe it as a little job in between the holidays.

Well done Ted, I will miss your personal service, but the HJ role is certainly a real opportunity. I popped in there just after Christmas. The bloke that delivers bikes, nice lad, said in Oct Nov they were moving as many as twenty bikes per week!

A lot of the business is internet with customers in Scotland and other far flung places🤣 . However there must be some strong local support and lots of those bikes will be returning for service.

At such a large company, there are many managers. But the workshop manager is a guy called Phil. First day today. I'm looking forward to it 😊

Best of luck mate. From reading your post here and the helpful tips you have given, your employment is definitely their gain.
