I am considering acquiring a little bit of sound-bling with a view to an end can first possibly followed by pipes in the spring.

After extensive research I have disregarded Akrapovic as their kit is generally 40% (60% if from BMW) more expensive than everyone else's, I can't find any evidence of them making down pipes and I have read bad reports on the crappy looking carbon fibre strap around the can.

Now narrowed down to BOS and Remus, both of whom do cans of various types and finishes as well as pipes to match. They are also both priced similarly. On the other hand they both seem to have springs and things holding them on - which all looks a bit Halfords bargain bin to me.

Any suggestions - other than save the money or buy some petrol with it? :nenau

:thumb2 BOS and happy with it, excellent quality and resoanbly priced
in order...

do the down pipes (headers) first as they make the most difference to performance and it sounds nicer as well..
the can just looks prettier and sounds a bit better again !:D

No springs of any description, Halfords bargain bin or otherwise, on my full Remus system. :nenau

That could swing it.

How much louder is the whole set-up; a little; moderately; a lot; outrageously?

Had a full BOS exhaust for 10k miles on my 1200GSA and its brilliant. With the baffle in its just fine, nice rasp, clean acceleration. With the baffle out its LOUD.

Fitted by Bahnstormer in Alton.

remus end can

Hi,

I have the remus headers and end can, lovely bit of kit and much better performance and sound.:thumb2

The only Remus can that uses springs as far as I'm aware is the Hexacone and that's because their are only 2 versions of the can for left or right side fitting) and each bike will have it's own link pipe secured by the springs.

Springs work perfectly and give the can the ability to flex which a fixed system does not but if they ain't your cup of tea just go for another Remus can.

From memory the Bos full system will not let you fit another manufacturers can to the headers so your limiting youtr future options. Remus headers can be fitted with any can designed to fit to the bikes standard headers so you have a lot more options IMPO. :thumb2

Have Full BOS system now, still need to fit it, as only got it on the weekend.

However, have to say, had an 1150GS before, with Y-piece and a Laser end can, eventually binned the can, the second time it tore itself appart around the Y-piece fitting end, and did not want to reweld it. Vibration tore it appart.

I am with springs, even though I prefer the cleaner look of non springs.
They make some sense to me.

HTH.

As been said already - change down pipes first - this makes the biggest difference and even with standard end can will sound better.

Put Remus down pipes on my GSA and just got round to changing the end can for a BOS carbon one which is a perfect fit and sounds much better even with the baffles in :D

I have Reamus end can db killer out on my 1200GSA, the sound is not loud and not particularily nice.
I have full system BOS no cat and db killer out and it is LOUD but nice and deep.
I guess the cat muffles a lot of noise.
Fowlers are the agents for BOS.

Pat,for long runs..you really need a db killer for the BOS :augie

Oh dear me not even yet an owner of a GS1200 but giving smart recommendations about aftermarket exhausts, typical forum wisdom :eek
but over here they rate the ZACH very higly, I like it that it is a very small end can, road legal, and apparenty a great sound (hear say)

Correct me if I`m wrong, but, if this is true,

"the Bos full system will not let you fit another manufacturers can to the headers so your limiting your future options."

then how can this be,

"Put Remus down pipes on my GSA and just got round to changing the end can for a BOS carbon one which is a perfect fit"

If the Bos can fits the Remus Headers then surely the Bos headers must allow the fitting of other cans.

The reason I`m asking is that I have the chance of a second hand Bos full system, but i may decide to use the std can instead of the Bos [depending on noise] and sell the Bos can on.

After fitting headers/removing the catalyst, do you need to alter the fuelling ? (worried about running lean and damage).

Anyone done a dyno run with maps of before/after ??

Try Staintune as well. The price should be good now the Aussie dollar has nose-dived again. Quality build and a nice throaty, but not overly loud, note.
