Can't get insurance on new GS

I had the same problem when I bought my Multistrada 1200s in 2010 no insurance company had heard of the new model I ended up with Ducati,s own insurance the next year I could shop around again. Prices were quite similar as Ducati

I had that with the Multistrada too. 3x the cost of the GSA to insure though.

BMW Insurance had no problem insuring my basic model 2013 GS

Carol Nash changed my cover from 2007 GS which i sold privately to 2013 R1200GS TE without an issue.

Policy sent via email with copy to Astle's to register H20BMV no drama :clap

I think they are there 'till 8:00 tonight. Good luck.

They just called me, funnily enough, presumably in response to the online quote. Like you, they were happy to straighten out the quote for the correct model, and the premium is £318, although this includes AA cover which I don't need, and a fairly chunky £550 excess. Still, I'm in a better place than I was a couple of hours ago.

Cheers

If insurance comanies aren't listing the TE model, but list the standard model, cant you just insure that and declare ALL the options.:nenau They'll have the number plate on the docs, which will cover the bike:augie

Mines insured with BMW:beerjug:

HOW MUCH............?????

£239 - £225 excess was my deal.

Probably should have given BMW insurance a ring but they are, I think only a front for Devitt, CN got me a policy with Aviva. I value the additional bits CN add like the Eu break down cover. The new bike should come with 2 years BM cover but every little helps!!.

I did also take their helmet and leathers cover and the life cover. Considering I'm just about to get a bike where my life expectancy will be no more than a Lancaster's tail gunner (and that's not a euphemism!). With a 13 plate.....well you can follow my thinking.

Well that's very odd. My current policy via Bennetts is with Aviva - and Bennetts told me this afternoon that Aviva don't recognise the bike, and so couldn't insure it.

You bought a basic model? Why didn't you go for the one with the LED headlight ?:D

For many reasons some of which have been mentioned before on another thread - also the LEDs come with all that complex suspension stuff that I definitely don't want! :D

dodgy insurnace?

Seems that insurance companies either don't like BMW or expensive new bikes - Bennetts and others have refused insurnace on my new TE, collecting on 7 Mar. BMW quote is £333, with £400 XS with a 9 year NCB. Carole Nash could only get to £480 or so. Stuck with it for the first year.

I've taken a similar view - just gone with Carole Nash to get the first year sorted, and then get a more competitive deal in a years time when everyone else has got it on their databases.

When I changed over from the Blackbird to the R1200GSA the company would not insure the new bike, the alternate quote from the broker was silly money £700+
I ended up canceling the policy loosing the remaining 3 months and going online ended up paying just short of £200.

When I changed from my 2010 K1300R to my 2012 K1300R in October and went to CN to change over my insurance they wouldn't insure it until they had spoken to the underwriter. Everything was the same except the value and the new bike had datatag:confused:

In the end they did insure it but at a higher cost and with a higher excess:eek:

Just got a quote from my current Insurer, Swintons, as my policy is due to expire. They have the 1200 TE on their list. £181 with a £500 excess
