WHY!?

No idea.. i have a GS TE, its a great bike, works perfectly for everything i want it to do. BUT, for some stupid reason, every time i see a camo green ADV i really, really want one! Its heavier, taller and less practical for london Filtering than mine but f*ck it looks cool!

Actually, it would be nice not to go to the petrol station 3 times a week! That would be one practical bonus!

Have you test ridden one, go have a long test drive and let us know what you think and how they compare

I prefer the agility of the GS and don't need the extra range, i agree the front does look so imposing and lovely though

No i haven't! Although, if I'm not gonna prefer it then yes, i had better ride one so i can get it out my system and stop looking haha!

I had two LC GS's, then got the Adventure. I love it. And as for the size, you only notice if you look down, as it's no wider at the bars or cylinders, so will fit through the same size gaps. If the weight is an issue, fill it to the same level as the GS, and it'll only be around 5kg heavier than the regular GS.

Had a standard 14 plate TE for about 5 months and it was good but the Adv is just better IMO.

The gearbox on my 14 plate GSA is an improvement over the standard bike I had and in normal everyday riding (including urban riding) the GSA is just as agile. :thumb2

Park Lane have a December 2014 one, in green, 1700 miles for £13,450 !!! SHIT that seems a damn good price

So without the extra fuel its only 5kgs heavier! thats cool !

Had one of the first March 13 GS's and loved it over 15K. However like you I needed to see what had made others swap to the GSA. Test rode 16MY last month and just won over. Does all that the GS did but feels more planted, better seat, improved wind protection and of course has that utter presence that a GS doesn't have. Bought last one they had in the shop there and then with keyless and GSAP and can't envisage going back to a GS. Done 1000 miles already with another Scotland trip next weekend.

Not interested in the Metal Mule look so ditched the framework off the back so as Nutty says, it's no wider without the boxes than the GS. Can't say I notice the weight difference. Have lots of fettling planned for over the winter and will then be off to see Geoff early Spring. If you do try one be prepared to end up with one in your garage!!

I've just got my little mitts on a Olive (Camo) green ADV TE.
The 14 plate GS LC TE I had, had corrosion issues. So BMW gave me 2K towards another bike.................... I think you should go check your bike for rust ! ! !
Only downside I've found is that I can no longer put my feet up on the the engine bars.......................

If you do get one, try the pro shift................... It's mint !

I was the same, swore I didn't need another GS adventure version after a couple of the twin cam ones. I've just stuck a deposit down on one even though my GS is only 20 months old. They do look the business !

I had an early WC GS TE (April 13). Done 21.5k miles on it. Great bike and no problems. On a whim thought i would ask Allan Jeffries what they would give me for my bike against a lowered suspension GSA. It was such a good deal that i had to do it. So bought a MU 16 GSA in red (known fact best and fastest colour) without riding one. Just done 1k miles. Loving the bike. It feels a little more comfy than my GS, feels just as agile as the GS, slightly better weather protection, don't really notice the extra weight (mines was that farkled up that i think it only came down to the extra fuel difference) and longer stops between fuel :D

Also the new bike is smoother at lower speeds around town and least i forget i now have heated grips that erh, heat:green gri

Overall very pleased with new bike.

So as has already been said BUY IT

:aidan

im not sure about this filtering business though. Was trying to look down today, and when I'm squeezing the engine bars past doors, the tank would be hitting car mirrors on an ADV wouldn't it?

Was/am in a similar situation: commuting through London and filtering. Had a Street III R, which is a great bike and very agile but I always fancied a GSA for some longer rides. Had the same reservations about the GSA's weight and size. Tried out the Triumph explorer, but did not fancy the look of it (nice engine though) Finally made the decision, went to SBW and got myself a new, (blue, maybe not as fast :-) but very nice) GSA with alarm and pro-shift on their current finance deal. (also looked at the green one at Park Lane; love the colour, but the longer warranty and the lower financing steered me towards a brand new one)

I absolutely love it: filtering not really an issue. Most of the time your mirrors are higher up than the cars'. The size makes you very noticeable on the road, which to me is a safety plus. The weight is only noticeable when I try to park it i.e. rolling backwards into a tight space but otherwise don't have any issues. Even slow filtering is not a problem as the weight distribution works perfectly IMO.
(the bike looks more intimidating when standing next to it than whilst sitting and riding it)
