Got a renewal quote from LV £966 phoned them this morning as Hastings direct quoted me £698.17 same policy and add ons £267.83 cheaper
said can you match that and was dismissed out of hand and told to go with Hastings direct.
This is after insuring car and house with them for over 20 years and never made a claim all they have done is ramp the price up.

I had a car accident a few years ago, and was insured with LV. The service they provided was excellent. They arranged collection of my car as it was in-drivable, paid for repairs which was over £10k, and paid to replace the car I hit, which was a write off. When my insurance renewal came through, the increase in premium was tiny. I have continued to insure with them ever since.
I know a couple of people who have used Hastings, and they vowed never to use them again!

I had a similar situation a few years ago same outcome they are good,
but they have raising the premium and are in danger of pricing them selves out of the market

Used Hastings for the last two years, slight increase from year one to two.however, renewal this year saw o40% increase (I had claimed for a windscreen).
Did some compare the shitsters, money pooper market etc and then rang them to tell them not to renew, short chat and they actually beat the previous years premium by about £100!
To be honest, I’m such a moody bastards that I almost told them to shove it as I despise these type of practices but in the end it was cheaper for same cover and i didnt have to fanny about talking to another company.

You all may find LV quality isn’t as good as it used to be nowadays.
It’s now part of Allianz IIRC.

correct. I have had new documents with Allianz branding for my breakdown policy

although I have not heard any horror stories about Allianz. They seem to be a major underwriter of motorcycle friendly travel insurance, motor insurance and breakdown insurance. Few tales of woe about this German company. Unless you know different ...

I’m not saying they are bad, I’m saying that the good service we all got from LV may not be the same now.

Allianz, bought the old Cornhill insurance company. Cornhill underwrote the old Honda Owners’ scheme, via Devitt insurance brokers. Allianz pulled out shortly after buying Cornhill.

That aside, Allianz are now the second largest insurer in the world, with a first class reputation whether for private, commercial or industrial business.
