Car mount for NAV V

You are correct in your assumption.
I only tried it twice, using my first Nav V device. It didn't charge in the 660 cradle; a cradle that had worked perfectly well with my 660. I lost interest after that, not least as my car has a very nice navigation screen built in.

If your car has Bluetooth you may be able to get sound from the car. Use a cheap mount and a generic power cable. Yes, I have used a generic power cable.
Has anyone tried the BT?

Had a 660 which I sold but retained the car mount. NAV V integrates well with the car mount but you need a bluetooth speaker to hear the instructions. Tried to buy a NAV V car mount and asked BMW Motorrrad UK for assistance but the reply I got was that they could not offer any advice about it, ie what it is and where to get it from.

Wapping...... Your Nav V does charge when it's in it's Nav V cradle I presume ?

In the interests of science I had another go.... And all is well.
It transpired that the charger plug would not seat quite properly in the car's cigarette lighter. A small bit of sandpapaper action and all is good.
One tip: The Nav V has a curved back, whilst the back of a 660 is flat. You need to give the device a sharpish push to get it to engage properly in the mount; it's the same on my 1600.

As a last experiment, I tried pairing the device to my car's audio system via Bluetooth.
The audio system and device coukd see each other but I could find no way to enter the code to establish a firm connection. I'll try again at some point, seeing if I can describe the Nav V device as a music player. At the moment, the car's audio system is only seeing it as a phone.

Ignore anyone who tells you that a Garmin 660 should be ok or that they reckon that a Garmin 590LM car kit may also do the job. Only pay attention to people who will give you the facts.
For example:
I can tell you for a fact that a Garmin 590LM car kit will definitely not fit a Nav V so unless someone pops along and confirms that a 660 car kit will work with a Nav V I would order a Nav V car kit from your local BMW dealer
The Part No you need is 77528544460
I bought mine from NOG and they charged me £71.40
Well another fact is that I received kit no. 77 52 8 544 460 today and the power cord does not fit into the Navigator V, it is simply to big..
And what did your dealer say when you pointed this 'fact' out?

I did send the dealer an e-mail to which they have not yet responded. It is a 60 km drive to the dealer, I will be there at 08h00 tomorrow morning. Needless to say the power cord is proudly marked " Made in China".
It's all made in China .... it's down to where it was when some twat put the incorrect part in to your box

I have made my name asshole no. 1. The connection does fit IF you plug it into the holder and not the back of the GPS.
Very big of you to admit the mistake .... Some here would have just carried on blaming the Chinese and said nowt
