Carb balancing

While reading my haynes manual in the section abou carb balancing it seems to mention a link cable, but I can't seem to locate this cable on my 2003 1150 Adventure.
So could anybody tell me the best way to balance the carbs on a 2003 bike. Ta.

All the 4valve boxers have injection from around 95 I think and the K series all have from about 83. I'm sure I will be corrected if not so. Carbs went the way of points and condensers, although I still get people in the garage telling me there mate, who knows all about cars said it just wants the points setting

I don't know what's meant by a "link cable". But each throttle body has a cable going to it, thats what you adjust to "balance" the throttle bodies under load.

The big brass screws are what you use to adjust the idle.

You'll need a set of guages to do the job .

Are you looking at the 1100 haynes manual? The early 1100 had a link cable crossing from one throttle body to the other.

Alot of the guides ive seen cover the 1100 and the 1150 which seems a little strange as im guessing they are quite difference machines...

It's a very loooong one piece cable, from the twist grip, around the L/H throttle body, then over the bike to the R/H throttle body -

One of those is not something to try for your first attempt.
It'll all end in tears.

Now, Steptoe, about this kick start problem on my 1150GSA.........

Just tweaked the big brass screws, didn't make much difference wherever I screwed them
So I took one out...................... caked in some gelatinous black shit. So I sprayed some brake cleaner in the openings with the engine running. Then sprayed the screws & cleaned them off. Repeated on the other side, now adjusting the screws makes a difference Obviously they were ineffective as they must have been blocked.
