Has any of you guys got a CarbonCan company y-piece and end can?

Whatare your thoughts on quality, fitment, performance gains, sound etc.

I have the opportunity to buy a new one pretty cheap. As this is not one of the more common exhausts around I would appreciate any feedback.

Regards

Bought the end can at last years NEC show. It went back.

They appear to only make a limited range of cans and the input pipe dia. is not the same as the BMW (1150) one, so I'd have had to chuck the remus y and get theirs.

ISTR it was a wider pipe so you may get better flow than the remus, at the price of less backpressure.

Got a CCC y-piece and Rainbow titanium can- the pipework went on pretty easily- just needed a bit of sealing with firegum. The stainless stell has remained nice and shiny and has gone a slightly gold colour, but has not corroded at all. The titanium can still looks shiny as well and has weathered well.

As for sound- it does have the road legal baffle in it- when you blip the throttle it is LOUD, but at constant revs it isnt too bad at all. From people who have heard it go past apparently it sounds very sweet and not offensive at all.

Performance wise- I noticed one hell of a difference when I took off the cat, I originally ran with the yellow cat code plug that was already in it, but then did the Steptoe mod- this improved it no end. Improved the acceleration and seemed to sound sweeter.

The can also seems to tuck in well and there is loads of clearance with the system panniers. There is a bit of blacking on the left hand indicator and there are some small heat marks on the back of the reg plate, but nothing that I would be worried about. That is even after a thrashing on the IOM

I paid £220 new for the whole system at the NEC last year and overall I have been very impressed and would definately recommend getting one- for half the price of a Remus it has to be worth it.

I may be being a complete tosser here but whats the "Steptoe mod ?". I was thinking of buying a Remus with "y" piece but seeing as the CCC is just up the road and is half the cost I may be tempted !!.

The thing to be aware of with a carbon can (of any make) is that they don't like big power pulses. The carbon fibre gradually 'frets' away at the rivets holding it together and it starts to detach itself from the structure. It takes longer on an inline-four, but they usually don't last as long as (say) a Titanium can. Don't expect big mileages with one fitted.

Hannu, take a look at this thread

You can see the pictures that show the mod. Or you can follow this thread to find out everything you wished you'd never asked about CCPs!!!
