Hi all

I have seen some GSs with pre-moulded carbon fork protectors between the axle and the lower yoke. Can anyone tell me where to get some from as my forks are slowly getting chipped?

Thanks

Hellebel

On the Racespec site, go to:

Online Shop
Bike Parts
Guards
Various

Top of the list are the Carbon USD fork protectors. I fitted some of these a few years ago & used the YZ250 fitting as these were the best compromise for the diameter of the GS lower fork leg. There is a step on the fork leg, though & the protector needs packing out with a rectangle of foam. I used some 3mm neoprene I have in the garage & it worked perfectly.

Good try, but the photo was taken over 12mths ago. The CRM's a beauty....... just bought to commute on but it's great fun.

from Boxer-design

Should fit right out of the box for 120 euros... suitable for: R 850 / 1100 / GS & R RS

I had a pair of forks, new wheels & fork bridge, all replaced as a goodwill warranty claim after I bought the bike three & a half years ago. I bought it s/hand so the warranty did not cover cosmetic items. The protectors were £25 when I bought mine & I thought it was cheap prevention......:P

;)

Helicopter tape

used on leading edges of heliopter blades

thick, sticky and see-thru.

very good stone protection.

not carbon - i'll grant you but - well - different.

3M make it.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. It was the Boxer Design ones that I had seen, but didn't know who they were made by, but I will check out the Racespec ones too, as Ledbury is only a stones throw from Cardiff.

Many thanks again

Which model GS do you ride?

They say: 850 - 1100 not 1150 !

another option

Just to throw in another idea...

my lower fork legs were getting a hammering, but I didn't want to put on carbon protectors, to pricey and if shit gets behind them the protectors can rub away at what they are meant to be protecting.

I ended up buying some strong aliminium, drawing a template and with the help of a good friend cut out & shaped and bent two protectors.

We used teh brake calpier fixxing holes with slightly longer tensile bolts and fixed two extra bolts/screws to the top of the fork and at the bottom.

This also means I've no extra bolts to fiddle with when I need to get the brakes off & the whole lot is protected.

Here's a piccy of the kit on the bike

Cheers
