Just had a 24K service on my 1150 Adventure at Mike's workshop. I'm really pleased with the attention to detail and helpfull advice - and even more pleased by the fact that this major service only cost me £270.
I've done 5,000 miles in just over 3 months, so I'm really pleased he is there- at this rate I'll be seeing him regularly! I've never ridden a bike as much as this- I just can't get enough of it.

Mikes contact details are: Cardiff Motorrad, 1a St. Fagans Rd.,Fairwater, Cardiff. Telephone 029 2056 5666.

Mike uses genuine BMW parts so as not to affect the BMW warranty, and does a brilliant deal on tyres.

See you soon Mike!:thumb2

I visited Mike last week. He'd done a 36k service a couple of weeks earlier and I needed an extra job done which he did not have the part for at that time.

Anyway, he was having a quiet week after a very busy spell.

He's being offered very good money to work for a BMW dealer in England. Mike would like to remain self employed but has bills to pay just like us all. So, please support him.

Even if you have a new bike and feel that you need to use a franchised dealer at least get your tyres from Mike. As bp says, his prices are keen and he usually has some in stock. For the GS he could offer a choice of Contiroad Attack or Tourance.

I can also give Mike the thumbs up,:thumb2 as my gear selector indicator (pediwotsit) started playing up big time two days B4 a 6 day visit to the land of Guiness last week:beer: , fitted and sorted the same day, now that was quick even by my standards and will be also using him for servicing after my Austria trip this year:D

Saw Mike earlier when he fitted some new TKC's for £165 rode in and back out in under 45 mins with coffee and a chat to boot with loads of advice.:thumb
He was extremely helpful in the fact that I need the bike for work and fitted me in (desperately needed tyres, going back tomorrow morning as I desperately need brakes, for the mileage I'll be doing this weekend I cant wait till Monday and as he now does plastic, I dont have to wait till payday).
I'll also be booking 6K service very soon.:augie

I never got a feckin coffee, maybe it´s a money thing as I only spent a couple of quid. Spend money on a full service and get a free coffee, sounds a bit like tesco to me, hee hee, but well worth it as he does a great job ! :) PS in Spain at the moment, great roads, shame the bike is in Cardiff doh !

What a top guy!

I have just had a 18k service on my r1200gs.

A number of problems were noted, and dealt with really well.
1, The last garage that fitted my rear tyre lock sealed the wheel :nono
2, throttle body knackered
3, LOADS of corrosion
4, Front and back brakes looking bad!:blast

Mike managed to,
1, sort out wheel (1+ hours work, no charge)
2, Clean and sort knackered throttle body (rather than replace)
3, talk me out of selling my bike!
4, clean and refresh the brakes

The whole issue was dealt with honesty and realism.
I whole heartedly recommend Mike and hope that he continues to provide BMW servicing within south Wales.
:clap

On top of all this, Mike offered to teach me how to service brakes and strip down my bike so I can clean and protect properly. Show me another mechanic that is prepared to show me how to do something for myself rather than just take my money to do it for me??????

No sign of BMW putting another dealer in Wales.....I had the "pleasure" of dealing with "customer care" at BMW UK :spitfire after my new 1200 GSA had a technical happening.....and they said no plans for a dealer in Wales !

Shame Mike can't do warranty work :blast

Shame I never delt directly with him when I had my 1150gsa may still have had it.:blast

Excellent service and lots of good advice when he did my 1200GS service last month. I even got a biscuit with my tea....Highly recommend him.:clap:clap:)

...and they said no plans for a dealer in Wales !

BMW chappie on the stand at the NEC said BMW were working on a new welsh dealer. However, after hearing me out and discussing how daft it is to have no facilities in prime GS country, I was mailed details of the BMW dealer in Wales - Rydales!!!:blast

With a GSA 1150 and Mike in town, why the F would I need an official dealer? Have no intention of changing either for the foreseeable.

Chatted to Sam Manicom (he of "Into Africa" - what a nice man) at the NEC. His GS80 has done 250k miles and he uses it as his daily transport.

I ( ?we all) need to concentrate less on the newest and shiniest and more on enjoying and using the damn thing!

Want to reinforce the message - Mike's a great guy :thumb2

I have just had a 18k/4year service & MOT on my 1150GSA.

Had a new set of Tourances fitted ready for a few longish trips coming up and new brake pads, even got a free can of helmet/visor cleaner.

Mike advised about a possible upcoming problem with a coil pack, but it's OK for now and he keeps them in stock.

I was very, very pleased with everything Mike did, great service :thumb2 :thumb2
