Carpuride 702BS - tips and tricks?

Let's see if this will work. A link below to the Firmware BIN file.

This was supplied to me by Carpuride on 19th March 2025 so depending on when you read this, you may want to check with Support as the whether there are further updates. In my case, it was supplied for the Carpuride 702BS to fit the BMW Sat Nav cradle.

Also below are the instructions for installing the update that came with the Bin file from Carpuride:

Sorry for the trouble. You can try update the MCU:

The following are the steps to update the MCU:

Please use a PC Windows computer to copy the latest version of the software APM32F030.bin to the SD Card. Power on the Carpuride unit, and wait for 10 seconds to display the operation interface. After inserting the SD Card, the "upgrade MPEGBOOTI" will pop up. Check √ -> Wait for the upgrade progress bar to reach 100% -> Update successful and power the device off-> Pull out the SD Card and then power it on.

Need to pay attention to these situations.
1. When installing the device, the SD Card must only have the APM32F030.bin software. If there are other files, it will cause interference and cause the upgrade to fail. It is recommended to use a standard 32GB SD card. It is recommended to format the SD card with FAT32 as the file system before copying the software to the SD card.
2. The file name cannot be changed or added characters, it must be the same as the attachment.
3. The memory of the SD Card should not exceed 32GB.
4. Please do not remove the SD Card during the upgrade in case of damage to the device.

PS: Make sure the machine is powered on before inserting the SD card.

Sincerely,
Carpuride Team

So The Woodster has tried this fix from the SD card I sent him with the updated bin file (rather than the file link in this thread) but it hasn’t worked. Mine has though.

If anybody tries this fix, please report back as to whether it’s been successful or not.

I contacted Carpuride and they sent me the following email:

'Thank you for your reply. When the motorcycle turns on the ignition switch and the device is turned on, and the engine is started, the reason why the device will restart or restart again is that at the moment of starting the engine, the battery voltage will drop below the working voltage of the machine, causing the machine to restart. After the motorcycle completes the ignition state and returns to the working voltage of the machine, the machine will automatically start. May I ask if you can provide a complete version number similar to the following?'

I note that they didn't say this was normal - not the end of the world but delays departure and adds the potential of a disconnection to phone/comms.

I sent them the screenshot required and await their reply.

That fits with my problem. Cold, I have to start bike then put device in place.
After riding for a while, shut downs and restarts seem to mainly be okay.
Thankfully it works once on the go.

Carpuride have sent me a file named 'ISPBOOT' as a fix to the above problem. I'm away at the moment but will try it as soon as possible and report back.

I had something similar when my 702BS turned up a few weeks ago. Carpuride sent me a firmware upgrade and it solved the problem. If yours has the MCU version shown in the attaached photo then there's an update. The version they sent me is APM32F030
What year / model is your bike?

Did you get two separate "fixes" / Patches?

one via a transfernow and the other in a separate email?

I have just got one of these Carpuride 702BS to try

Does it have a built in SatNav or do i need to use the phone to navigate and this just links to the phone.

Must admit i was expecting it to have a sat Nav built in but cannot see anything in the instruction booklet

I can confirm that it doesn't have a built in sat nav. It mirrors your phone.

Which is better, gives you freedom and multiple options for many things, Navigation, streaming music or radio, phone research and enjoy for a third of the price of Garmin shite

Yep - it’s effectively an additional screen which can display certain apps running on your phone.
