Carpuride 702BS - tips and tricks?

Anyone got any tips to get audio working properly on mine?
How should it be setup?
I have my phone connected to the tft screen.
Phone connected to my packtalk bold.
Phone connected to the carpuride.
My packtalk headset is also connected to the carpuride.
But I can’t seem to reliably get any audio.
I’m on the latest patches as carpuride sent them to me.

Hi Dave, without knowing what you've done and where you are now with the process it's difficult to give you written advice, however the very first thing I would do is delete all pairings to the TFT from your phone and headset and the same on your TFT. You may be able to add it into the mix later, but one step at a time. I'm assuming your phone is compliant, along with your headset. Most importantly, I can only take you through the things I did. I'm no expert.

Is your car play unit working? have you got AA or CarPlay working? Is it just audio that you can't get in your headset? Or is the audio just crap? Can you make and receive a phone call? Do you get audio when you do? can you be heard?

Secondly, make sure your phone has the latest software and that your headset is the same with firmware as well. Once you've done that test them together separately away from the Carpuride (which model have you got?) to make sure they are working.

Do the following before each attempt to connect your phone and get audio:

Phone - delete and forget any BT connections to the 702, your headset and any other audio/headphone devices. Empty your CarPlay/AA cache on the phone. Delete and forget any connections to the 702 on your Wi-Fi. Restart your phone.

Headset - Delete all BT connections as above, factory reset and switch off.

702 - Disconnect and delete your phone connection and your headset connection in either BT Trans or iPlay/Auto under Audio output settings. Factory reset the unit. switch it off and start it again.

Lets try for an easy win:

Connect the phone to the 702 using BT. It will connect your phone automatically to the Wi-Fi hotspot from the 702.

Switch your headset on and connect it your phone in the normal way.

Find the screen on the unit and select 'audio output' - Before going any further, select the BT Trans option and check that your headset is still not connected here. If it is - delete it.

Back and select 'iPlay/Auto'

Prompt appears on screen ‘Android Auto is connected – it will be temporarily disconnected – Do you want to switch? Select yes

Prompt on screen ‘User selected to exit Android Auto – Please wait’

Android Auto/CarPlay connects again

Connect headset to phone unless already connected

Test audio by playing radio/music and phone calls

During an active phone call – Short press on/off switch to get volume controls – check decent levels

Let us know how you do. I am a bit rammed today but if you can't make any progress we could arrange a call if that suited. I'll say it again; I'm no expert.

I’ll try your points.
The phone connects to the carpuride unit with no problem, and all works fine scrolling, viewing maps, viewing music, etc.. but there is no audio at all if I’m following directions or playing music. I have got it to work, think I’ve cracked it and then it’s gone again after restarting the bike or something like that.

Which method have you used to connect audio? BT Trans or iPlayAuto? There seems to be more success with the latter as the 702 is not being used as a hub to control audio.

Just deleting the connections to the TFT sorted it. And it immediately started to work fine. So there’s some conflict between the phone (iPhone 16), TFT and Carpuride. Shame as I do use the speed limit info on the tft screen.

I found someone on FB that thinks they've solved the issue if including the TFT. Do you want me to send you a link? Glad to hear it's working though. Ironically, mine stopped again today but no time to fault find

This used to happen to me, like I said in my video. My learning is....start your bike first (like start the engine, not just switch it on), wait for carplay to come up...THEN switch on your helmet. That works for me now.

I have been running the W702 and now the BS for a year and have been using the Connected app to record my rides etc without issue for the last 9000 miles.

I have done a couple of videos on it which are relevant for both the Carpuride and any other brand to be fair.

If you are an iPhone user that is, Android Auto seems to crop up more niggles for some reasons. With iPhone you can use Apple Shortcuts to ensure that the audio output is consistent and where it should be so you can still connect your phone to the TFT and use the CR app.

Im sure the same automations can be done in Android but it would require a 3rd party app such as Tasker.

I had something similar when my 702BS turned up a few weeks ago. Carpuride sent me a firmware upgrade and it solved the problem. If yours has the MCU version shown in the attached photo then there's an update. The version they sent me is APM32F030
Hi, I have this glitch too so emailed carpuride and they said
"When the motorcycle turns on the ignition switch and the device is turned on, the device will restart when the engine is started. The reason is that at the moment of starting the engine, the battery voltage will be pulled down, which is lower than the working voltage of the machine, causing the machine to restart. After the motorcycle completes the ignition state and returns to the working voltage of the machine, the machine will automatically start."
Will try emailing them again to get another opinion...

That's how mine works.
Be quicker to press the starter button ;)

Carpuride are considering a small battery in the unit to mitigate this. They asked me for some feedback on the idea and I said for this very issue it would massively help. Doesn’t happen on my 1300 but I know it’s frustrating on the 1250’s as I had this issue on my last one

Mine most definitely didn’t come back on after starting the engine. I waited a good few minutes before giving up. It’s not been an issue at all since the firmware update. The work-around was to just release the unit from the sat nav holder and put it back in when the engine was running.

I have today installed my 702BS on the bike (s1000xr) and looking forward to giving it a proper test tomorrow. Just a thought, I have a coupe, of older cars where I could make use of apple car play. Is it possible to buy a mount for this unit for car use? A car specific unit is not massively expensive but even so. Any thoughts, please?

Chris.
