Carry On Up The Cantabrians

Looks good, though a day off in the other Cangas (de Onis) would have been a better bet than del Narcea.Much older and more to see and you could sit and have lunch at the Meso El Puente Romano next to the bridge.
You’ll just have to go back next year !! :-)

Fridays ride would take us from Robles De Laciana to Potes for our final evening in Espana:

The rocks have a reddish tinge, presumably contain some iron salts that wash off with rain then build up in the middle of the road as not worn away by traffic

It’s ‘rust’ from the iron mineral in the rock

Keith and Co , most enjoyable trip report and photos . Plenty of food and drink 🍸 on show , also looks like you had empty roads to play on. Thanks for taking the time to post :beerjug:

Brown stain

My belief is that is from the urea that they use to keep the roads ice-free in the winter. As you drive around, you will often see silos on steel frames at the side of the road, so that the de-icer can be quickly loaded into the snow plows.

I have frequently stayed at the La Pisa hotel just outside Potes. The english owner waxed lyrical about the spanish ability to keep all their roads snow/ice free

No return ferry food pics ?
Probably just eating salad and wondering whether Nutty can make it back to Slaphead Central before that tyre plug gives way completely !
