can anyone supply me with a pin out diagram for the bmw cat code plug for the 1150?

what i need is the location of the pins designated 30, 87 etc.

i thought i could get info off any old relay, but numbers normally refer to function not location.

TIA

heres one from an 1100. Not sure what the difference (if any) is between it and the 1150.

Hi Fergus,

I take it we are talking about the low octane fuel plug or is that a catalytic converter (bypass?) plug? I'm new to oilheads.

I have one for my GS Adventure. I haven't ohmed it out, but it looks like a simple jumper or is there more to it...like a resistor?

Cork! That takes me a long way back to the days when I went to Rockwell College and we went to Cork for the day to watch a game. Can't remember if it was soccer or rugby. Too bad I was too young to hit the pubs. Next time.

it's a jumper in a relay case. various part no's, colours & internal jumper configs exist.

different pins connected together choose difererent fuelling maps in the ECU.

Thanks for the info.

Although I'm not one to experiment, would you happen to know the different pin configurations and the charachteristics of the associated maps?

My fuel code plug came with instructions not to use it for more than one tank full and then to leave it installed till another tank full of premium grade fuel has been run through. I can understand the reason for the latter, but not the reason for the occasional use of the coding plug.

Any ideas?

Here is what I could find on the CAT plugs...

Code:
Type GS Model Plug Colour Connected pins BMW part number Motronic version
------------------------	-------------	--------------	--------------- ----------------
R850GS cat Gold yellow 30 87 61 36 8 366 282 2.2
R850GS cat 25Kw Grey 30 86 87 61 36 8 366 623 2.2
R850GS non-cat no plug 2.2
R850GS non-cat 25Kw Olive yellow 30 86 61 36 8 366 621 2.2
R1100GS cat Pink 30 87 87A 61 36 8 366 625 2.2
R1100GS non-cat Beige 30 87A 61 36 8 366 551 2.2
R1100GS cat Swisserland Dark brown 30 86 87 87A 61 36 8 366 624 2.2
R1150GS cat Gold yellow 30 87 61 36 8 366 282 2.4
R1150GS cat 91ROZ Grey 30 86 87 61 36 8 366 623 2.4
								71 60 7 659 547

All they are, are jumpers. You can make your own with some wire and spade connectors.

I tried the 'Grey" for the 91ROZ on my '00 R1150GS... It made the bike completely unrideable. Easy fix, take out the jumpers, pull the motronic fuse, count to 10, put back the fuse, turn on ignition, twist throttle 3 times, start bike.

Have been running mine on this setting for the last 2K miles , fitted with Y piece and carbon remus, runs better than the standard plug -

put the techlusion on today. only had time for a very short test ride, but it pulls pretty strongly, then again it did before too.

definitely smoother.

judging by the fumes in my garage after warming it up, it's bunging plenty of petrol in now. might have to join the queue for an adv tank

TTS were really on the ball, good advice & unit came the day after i ordered it.
techlusion could sort their instructions out though. no excuse for getting the wire colours wrong & as for those horrid T connectors. shudder. ugh!

Missing plug

How many have got 1150s with no plug fitted? That's how mine is - seems to run ok!

Yep me too no plug, Remus exhaust and Y-piece fitted, I will ask SPC if I need one of these tomorrow.
