Hi Guys

I have seen numerous references to Steptoe's Cat code plug post but for the life of me I seem totally unable to get to the original post with data. Can anyone PLEASE help.

Thanks

This is the original linky

but all you need to know is :

'Replaced my cat code plug with a jumper lead , using top standard connection and the center middle section ( numbers 5 and 0 on the relay board, the standard relay connects to numbers 2 and 0 ).
It codes the engine for running with a can, and without a cat, its the stage 3 setting for a BB chip, but does the same thing without the chip.'

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I assume from this that the eight pin configurations given with the BB chip are not the same configs for the standard chip. As looping out 5 & 6 or 5 & 0 on the BB is stage 1 not stage 3?

it does nothing of the sort. It's nothing to do with fitting end cans or having/removing cats.

Hi

Thanks. I have done it and it definately stops most of the backfiring on overun, there was no plug in there at all. I have not done enough Kms to see what happens to the fuel consumption. I have a 2000 1150 GS with a y plus Laser Stealth ? exhaust.
Surely by now someone should know or be able to find out exactly what mappings are standard on the 1150?

Don't confuse yourself :nenau it's straightforward - it's a yelow ccp plug or no plug.

All I did was copy two bits of information that you had posted in the Cat Code link - postings #3 & #6. Your quote above was from #6.

That post is from 2004. What i meant was it's the BB setting for their chip with all the exhaust mods. I only found that out after i'd tried lots of different settings and found that my setting improved MY bike.

All i've ever said is try it and see if it works without any chip. - it's nothing to do with any exhaust system you have fitted to your bike. I've had a standard silencer on my bike for three years.

Isn't this also the way you tell the bike its running on shit quality fuel or is that a different plug?
