Hi all,
if this has been discussed before apologies but I couldnt track a link down

my understanding is the cat plug's are colour coded and you can swap them for lower octane or bad fuel when on the road ... isnt that the idea??
I cant find a listing of what colour codes do what for the 1150gs I know Steptoe has a connector fix for bikes with moded pipes ect.. but I would like to know what colour does what & if they are only a few quid each I will get a few for my travels.
Anyone have a simple answer eg. the yellow one is for unleaded, if you dont have anything in at all it maps ext........

cheers for any help and again sorry if this has been done before, im just curoius and want to draw on the clever people here
cheers
John

Your not searching hard enough -

Do not buy any "special" cat code plugs, this is all that's inside them.

i'm fed up posting these pictures.

you tell him mr steptoe:)some people think you,ve got nothing better to do than sort out other peoples, simplistic been done a thousand times before problems-NOW SORT OUT MY TPS TWEAKING:D

dudes !!!
I know its only a link in a box my question is why??? & what for ??
I understand it changes the mapping on the bike but was it designed so the user could 'take a yellow one' with him & start using it if in low quality area or was bmw thinking its supplied with the bike when sold and shouldnt be messed with until service time ???
i was just wondering whats the thinking behind it when the blokes at BMW had the idea to colour code the link box ????
ps. thanks for the post's so far i'm not trying to understand waz up

I found a product that some UK GSers have used (bbpower chip)...... Makes me wonder if the product is mostly just a jumper too!

Very misleading as a source of information. The bbpower chip is a replacement chip that fits in the Motronic ECU - the jumper settings reproduced in the ADVrider post are simply the means of accessing the different maps held on the bbpower chip. The 'product' isn't mostly just a jumper at all.

To clarify what Steptoe said the different jumper positions do all work, but only if you have a bbpower chip - not with the standard chip.

DAM!! thought I was the hero & found the answer to the mapping mystery
looks like its either the yellow plug /no plug or steptoes mod .
